Unfortunately, looks like I arrived to the party late. Anyone have another copy of the before mentioned 7800 GTX OC utility? I have an Inspiron 9300 pinmodded and am running the GTX on Vista! Almost there, just wanna squeeze some more juice out of this puppy. BTW, going with 97.46 forceware driver for now, anyone know if thats the best bet for Vista and their 7800 GTX?

I have the .iso file still in My Documents files...will put it up on my filefront account later...don't know how long it will last (I forget when my filefront account wears out...got it for free), but it should do you fine for the next week or two at least...

Just checked and filefront personal pages are 'down for maintenance' with no ETA...I'll keep you posted...literally!

Sorry I haven't bothered keeping the original post up-to-date, but, life happens, y'know?

The self-titled 7800 files are obviously the ones you want...only one will do...I think the '7800BootROM.iso' file is the original Cornholio bootdisc modded for the 7800, while the '7800_BootFilesDifferent.iso' is another image I was experimenting with. I think they BOTH work, but I'm not completely sure, so if the connection is low for you, d/l the '7800BootROM.iso', since I think that's pretty much a sure thing.

PS> I'll update the first post with this info...I've subscribed to the thread, for now, so if you object to your location being listed on the first page, stoopid, just post back here or PM me....thnx

I believe the one I posted is the bootable/latest version with a copy of the original 7800GTX bios.

Yeah, I include the original BIOS that came on my card in each .iso titled 'ORIGINAL.ROM'...still, I got the card when they first came out, so if there have been any revisions, it would be better to get stoopid's version just-in-case.
I didn't backup my bios, it may very well be your original version (it was called original.rom) .
PM me if you need a copy. To save bandwidth I've renamed the path to the files needed.

thanks to zx81 for the link to this page and kudos to hammermd... i chanced upon on this link and bravely flashed my bios after only reading the first page of the thread... gave new life to my m170.. i was actually ready to sell this beast... but i think i might just keep it a little longer... using 440/1250 and got 7238 on 3dmark05... max temp while gaming was 75c... 40c while on the web... used dvd decrypter to make an iso image... and used a dvd-rw disk.. everything went excellent...

have a look at one of the stickied threads on the main 17" forum page

Juan has hacked the bios so now (in XP) you can change the clocks. Its more convenient, and it gives better battery life. Same idea, just with his flash you can overclock in software

The hacked bios is better in XP but this hard flash is the only way to do it in Vista until an nvidia driver comes out which works with ntune and the 7800gtx (it already works with other cards)

Thats a great score your card is getting, cheers

I had this working great. But, I decided due to heat to just go back to original.rom. Well, guess what? Original.rom seems to have bricked the thing. Damn it. Blank screen on reboot for me. Nice. No activity. No booting even behind the blank screen.
no numlock key (assuming you never turned it off in the bios first)?
No numlock key, no. Only light is power. Just sits there, fans running.

This was the 7800BOOTROM.iso on filefront. So stay the hell away from that. Ironically, I backed up my original BIOS and it's on my flash stick. Too bad there's no way at all to boot.

I tried pulling the system battery to wipe the system BIOS, just in case that'd help. Zip nadda.

just wait it out, trust me...took me about 2 hrs to boot one time off of a bad flash
I wish I had a 7800gtx to break
I let it sit in its brain dead on state for about 4 hours. Nothing happened.

Jeezus christ, people...! Look how bloody old this thread is...Who knows what this shit was/is?!? 7800BOOTROM.ISO I made in 2005 or something, so FFS, do not download anymore of this crap!

Maybe I"ll try and remove the stuff, but I'm not sure I still have an actual account...their server must just keep things up until it's reformatted or something. Anyhow, I would warn anyone away from this, especially if (what I assume are) corrupted downloads are causing bad flashes to occur...blindflashing is NOT fun, though it is possible...

Toneloc, you need to do a search on this forum for a thread with 'blindflash' or 'blind flash' or something in the title...I think it's actually titled 'Blindflashing and you' or something like that...this will teach you how to, well, er...'blindflash' your puter, which is when you let it 'boot' and type in commands to re-flash to a good ROM while you can't see any output on the screen (i.e. your graphics board is toast, but the rest of your puter works normally...you just can't SEE it)...keep trying, it is possible to do....

Anyhow, I am the thread creator, and this is so old I don't even HAVE a 7800 in the house anymore, so I would definitely advise leaving my old tools alone. I will still reply to this thread, but people having problems with this should likely start a new one and beg for help from the masses.

Sorry I can't keep this going, but it's just too risky, since I don't even remember this shit myself.

Thanks for your answer.
Blindflash is not possible, bacause the xps is not booting into OS.

I grabbed the 7800 GTX out of the XPS and now i will solder out the bios chip and a company here in germany will flash it externally for me.

Unfortunately i have not stored my old bios, so i will have to use either the 425C1100 which was running perfect on my machine or the original.rom (with which i had the problem, but i think is was a faulty download, because the file was not readable).
I downloaded the iso again and i have opened both files with NiBitor and they look good.
What do you think should i use.

Just use the one of the rom's in my signature if you can (under dell rom's). I have both the stock 7800GTX rom and the unlocked 7800GTX rom. Also, I have the Blind flashing thread in my signature if you were interested in that (under bootable recovery)
