Or was there a 2.0Ghz chip in there originally, and you bought the 1.6 specifically to pin-mod it? Along those lines, would I be able to buy a cheap, slow processor and pin-mod it to 2.26Ghz so that I would have an M170? If so, which speed should I get to best hit 2.26? Thnxs.
It had a 2.0. I replaced it with a 1.6 pinmodded at 2.13. I went with the 1.6 versus the 1.7 at 2.26 because the 1.6 is a gimme and the success rate of 1.7 is far less (I had one fail already and stability is still importnat to me). I realize it only amounts to a 5% increase in cpu speed, and now I do have a 2.0 dothan laying around but what the hey. I figure go for the gusto
BTW UPDATE: with the new 81.95 drivers I get a whopping 7292
. Ah, well, better IQ from what I gather and it is the WHQL version so at least it is certified. I will now head to some serious gaming but as a final note here are my final system specs:
Samsung WUXGA, 2.13 ghz, 2 GB Crucial RAM, 7800 GTX (445/1200 PLAYABLE
), 80 GB 7200 rpm HD, NEC 6650 DL DVD Burner, Atheros Wireless Card, 350 Bluetooth, oh, and a partridge in a pear tree...
Seriously, this thing is awesome.
I am good to go for a couple of years now. Be seeing people around and dropping in periodically though just to see what is up.
