Sager NP9890...just unpacked...

Just got the new Sager NP9890v today.
3.4 GHZ Pentium 4
2 Gig RAM
NVidia GForce 7800 GTX
80 Gig SATA HD
WUXGA LCD
DVD/CD burner w/ lightscribe
802.11g
bluetooth

First impressions:
This thing is huge! I did not realize it was going to be this big. But for a desktop replacement I should have expected it. The power supply is huge also. Had it on for a few hours and the heat is less than my dell laptop. Overall it seems pretty nice. The screen is beautiful.

If anyone wants me to perform some benchmarks just let me know what you want and what program will do it.

3D 03, and 05, aquamark, and fear; if you have it.

Yea, come on whats the hold up??? You've had at least 8 hours.....
I need to know 'cause I'm thinking of upgrading my 9860 to a 9890 and I need DATA....!!!!

OK I have both 3dmark and aquamark loaded. Let me know exactly what setting you want tested and I will do it.
run it at the default settings. That is generally what people run it at when they are trying to compare it with other systems as it keeps the process a whole lot simpler.

What's the heat like on this bad boy?

I ran the standard tests for aquamark and 3dmark5.

This is stock setup no overclocking.
aquamark: 68969
3dmark5: 6430

If there are any other tests or tweaks you want me to run let me know.

The heat is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have it on my lap and although its warm its not that bad. Actually the fan on the bottom blows cold air. The warm air comes out of the vent on the front left side. Honestly this is not as warm as my dell 1.2 ghz 512mb ram. The dell can't be on my lap without making me sweat. I don't have that issue with this one.
The sound is awesome. Monitor is nice. I need to find a program to find any dead pixels. I can't tell if there are any. I pulled up different color pics and I could not see anything.

Complaints:
Wish the mouse pad was more to the right. But found out that its probably in a good position when typing.
Wish the + and - buttons on the front worked for the sound when the computer is on. They do work when the computer is off and have a cd in it.
The power supply is freaking huge. It is probably a bit longer than a standard brick and weighs just as much.

Besides that its pretty nice. I am happy. Its probably a bit too big for me but I can deal with it.

Hey man, congrats on the awsome lappy, My mom and dad are planing on buying me a 9890 for christmas, I do have a few questions fpr u though:

1. Whats the battery life for the beg'ol beast when its unpluged? Could you run something like Counter Strike: Source, on default settings, from max battery life till it dies out and tell me how long it takes?

and. . .

2. Could you post some pictures on here or on another thread that shows its size compaired with someting I could actually relate to, like use some dvd or ps2 cases and show the hight, width, and length of it.

The way you could think of it as is, its 2 or 3 dvd cases(flat) thick, two dvd cases(flat) wide from side to side, 1 and a half dvd cases(flat) from the front to the back, and 1 and a half dvd cases(tall) from the base to the top of the screen when its open.

That would be great if you could generalize the size for me so I could get the feel of it, and tell me how long your battery lasts playing games when its unpluged from full charge.

Thanks man, and congrats!

Before you do that, just upgrade the motherboard and gpu. Sager will do it for you and you'll have the same machine for cheap!
