I will just suffer with my current work laptop. I guess I was not meant to play video games on the road... lol... Damn that thing was nice when it was working. I don't know if I could go with less after having that. I mine as well just deal with what I have. I don't think I will ever buy from Sager again. Not happy that they screw the consumer if there are problems with their laptops. So if anyone asks tell them that if they have problems be prepared to send the whole laptop back to them at your cost and wait a few weeks for it to get fixed.

There really needs to be a lemon law for computers. I wish you could build your own laptops like you can desktops.

Sorry to hear that Timzoo. My 5680 just died - motherboard problem related to the backlight. I really hate to think about getting another Clevo, but it's cheaper than Dell and I'm not sure I can trust Dell anymore. Oh well, I'm crossing my fingers on the 5720...and this time with an extended warranty.

at stock speed and default settings, that could be right for a 3dmark score...

The 5720 has the advantage that you can make it complete silent with no fan running...I don“t think that this will work in a laptop with an CPU that needs over 100 Watts of power.

Ouch

I feel your pain Timzoo, however my 9890 upon taking it from the box. That new computer smell entered my nose, almost as refreshing as the smell of coffee brewing.

It has run flawlessly from the moment I began using it 1 week ago, and believe me I have been running it hard core. Its first task was to be loaded with every game I can think of playing. Benching it on 3Dmark03: Scored 12780, Am yet to bench it on Aquamark, and 3Dmark05.

Half-Life 2: 115 fps (Near Max Detail)
Battlefield 2: 167 fps (Max Detail)
Star Wars Galaxies: Constant 30Fps (Max Detail)
World of Warcraft: Constant 60Fps (Max Detail)
Doom 3: Not tested, Not gonna bother, played it enough.
Rainbow Six 3: 300fps (max detail) Old game, so what.

I havent encountered any physical problems, even ran SiSoft Sandra on it to get some in depth looks at the components. All in all, my laptop is flawless. Sorry you got a lemon =/

Correction it does have one flaw. Windows. meh, oh well.

I've been mulling the same issues on wether or not to purchase the 9890 - I configured the 5720 as closely as I could to the 9890 I want - the price differential was like $100? Maybe? I'm thinking of just ordering the monster - figure if it conks out I can just send it back and get my money back within 30 days.

Maybe the AMD will be out by then

N9890 end user comments

I got a P4 3.0 ghz, 2gb sys ram,7800gtx,80gbsata HD and so far so good. Yes my first impression was it's huge but i love the wide display and the big difference from my online game experience. The vent is on the back right and the heat vents out on the fron left side bottom. I ordered a cooler to help cool the pc when I use the laptop and i use a platform to raise the level of the pc when using to ensure no risk of risking any overheating. I got the SRS surround sound and the audio is great. the camera is only a 1.3 but still good for video conferencing online. I have the ports of the tv tuner and extra bay accessible if I want to upgrade later down the road. Even though the pc is upgradable to 4gb of sys ram; i heard the bios only recognizes up to 2 gbs so I hope this will be corrected in the future when upgrade is necessary to fill the other 2 slots with 2 more gbs of sys ram.

Question: Theres 4 slots for the sys ram ; is there 4 or 2 sticks thats originally came with the pc to make the initial 2 gbs of sys ram? If 2 then great if 4 then that means I have to worry about that when i want to add 2 more sticks of 1 gb each later when i want to hit 4 gbs of sys ram in the future.

Complaint: yeah i wish the front cd controls worked while the pc was on so i can utilize when using music or dvd movies. A bit heavy but well worth it for the power of a desktop anywhere I go

I like the 7 in one media slots too so i can easily add my choice of music and pictures from my mp3 player and digital camera.

Hoss,

Thanks for the response. I'm not a multi-tasker either. I have zero interest in the non-mobile Intel processor...I just love all the bells and whistles on the 9890. I wish Sager would take that Clevo chassis and drop a mobile processor w/ appropriate motherboard in it. Nirvana...I'm not a big fan of external drives unless they can be powered from the USB port. I hate multiple AC adapters.

ITScout,

How hot does that exhaust get when you're gaming?

Timzoo,

My condolences on your loss...the sun will come out tomorrow...you can bet your bottom dollar...or something like that...
