Psu Nightmare!!!!!

I have a modded 9300 and I've ordered 2 different power bricks off ebay and both come up as unknown adapter!!!! They both look identical to my friends xps adapter (and his works on mine). One did have rev01 on it while the other had rev02 (my friends had rev02),but I'm starting to get pissed. I just installed my new 7800 go and it runs in low power mode withouit the damn adapter. Has anyone else run into this, anyone have any fixes/ideas? I'm about to have to ship ANOTHER psu back and actually order from dell this time at twice the price.

I'd say just order the correct one from Dell, sure it may cost a bit more but you won't be struggling to find a PSU that will work on your PC from ebay.

And you'd already be enjoying the power of your 7800 right now

shoman is right, you need to get an original dell. i use an psu from my original xps1 wich is a 150 watt adapter and it works fine for me.

Well....these are original dell, they just weren't DIRECTLY from dell. THis last one I got is supposed to be brand new also. It looks identical to my friend's with is directly from dell.

F*ck getting it from Dell...just trade one of the crap ones to your friend for the one that works with your system! I assume the ones that WON'T work with your 9300 WILL work with his XPS2, right? So give him one of the 'defective' ones that only works on his XPS2, and then you take the one that works on your 9300...problem solved.

I will also add that I am really in admiration of all of you guys who had the balls to do this to the 9300 without any assurance (other than speculation on this board) that it would work! If I were to buy a computer right now that I didn't need for work, I'd buy a 9300 and do this mod...very little money for a whole lot of power (although anyone running mission-critical sh!t on a modded box should be shot)...except for the headaches this guy is having, though, I've seen nothing but complete and total success from people doing this, which is the complete opposite of what I had imagined...I honestly thought we'd be flooded with threads like this one once the 9300-people got their 7800's..."Why won't this work? Goddammit! @#$%!" & etc.

Actually, you read my mind.....I'm waiting for my friend to get home to see if this one works on his, and if it does I'm gonna beg him to switch. On the other point though....your right, the switch was nothing. It took 5 minutes to flash the bios, after that the swap was just as easy as a real xps. I benchmarked with my friend's psu the day I put it in and my scores are right there with a real xps with the 7800, and mine total cost is about 2000 dollars less....even with price of card factored in.

Actually....i would never tell him that (especially if i have to try and talk him into switching psu's), simply because it's rude. Plus, I'm the one who talked him into getting a xps......then again, his other option he was looking at was an alienware, so either way I guess he was gonna spend way more money than me.

You should have got an XPS

Same problem here

I have the same problem- my 9300 won't boot with 130W AC adapter model PA-1131-02D, DP/N 9Y819, PA-13 Family from fleabay. The battery (9cell) won't charge either. The really strange thing is that the screen goes to AC mode and gets nice and bright if I plug the adapter in after booting up with it unplugged. I get a message that says I should "connect a 130W Dell power supply". Strange because the adapter I got looks like the right model and it says 19.5V 6.7A 130W on it.

Can anyone give me the model number, and DP/N of an adapter that works with the 9300 and a 6800ultra?

I got my 9300 for $704 from Dell outlet with wuxglmnopa screen,dvd/cdrw,512MB, 80GB 5400 and 1yr warranty so don't tell me I should have bought an XPS!!!

I heard someone cleaned the tip really well and it began to work. If It does not work just return it and order a real one from dell. He
