HP is pissing me off (*Now with a happy Ending*)

Ok.. as some of you know, I recently traded my desktop for a laptop.. The laptop I got was an HP ZD7000.. its a great lappy.. One thing I was told before the trade is that the LCD needed a "warm up" time.. usually about 5 minutes.. that was fine with me, figured the LCD inverter was going bad.. I lived with the problem for a few days, and then yesterday the screen just stopped comming on.. I had the latest drivers..

Here I contact HP Online tech support for the FIRST time.. after having this dumbass tell me like 6 times to get the newest drivers.. i asked him this.. the drivers on HP's website were from January 2004.. its almost January 2006.. should I get newer drivers from Nvidias website.. he said I could, but HP's drivers would be perfect.. I asked him how could they be perfect, Nvidia made the damn card.. and then he says "Its not that they wouldnt be perfect".. and then trailed off.. this guy was definantly not american, he did not understand my questions all that well, and had absolutely no answers for me.. after having to translate his garbled broken english for 20 minutes.. i just said "BRAIN NOT SMART NO MORE!" and left the chat sessions

So, about 12 hours later, the screen still isnt comming on, so I contact HP online tech support again.. This time I get a girl who types pretty good english, sufficent enough to not need translation.. after explaining the situation to her, she tells me to put the laptop in the original box, and they will arange for FEDEX to pick it up.. I told her I didnt have the original box and she told me I could buy one from Bestbuy or Radioshack for like 15-20$.. i said fine.. well, I called bestbuy today, got transferred to Geeksquad where they take care of stuff like this, and they tell me they can send the laptop out for me, I cant just buy a box, but im gonna need the receipt.. original or copy.. i told him I didnt have either, and he pretty much told me im outta luck.. long story short.. the bxtch lied to me.. I cant buy the box from them

So, i got back online to talk to HP AGAIN for the third fxckin time.. this time, the guy tells me that once I get my email from HP telling me when FEDEX will be here to pick it up, I just tell them to bring the box and I buy it from them for 15-20$...

This whole run around thing is pissing me off, no one seems to know what the hell is going on there.. I HATE places like this..

just use any damn box, when i had to send my zd7000 in I put it in some random oversized box, stuffed it with paper and foam and off it went. Fedex picked it up on monday and I had it in my hands on Thursday of the same week! (They had to replace my motherboard)

really, They specifically told me it needed to be the original box.. I would like to know what they do if its NO in the original box when they get it.. I guess ill give it a shot..

Yeah, it doesn't need to be the original box, just packed well enough. They say original box cause most customers are dumbasses and don't know how to ship stuff.

Last time I had to ship something to HP I just had the UPS store pack it for me (basically wrapped the laptop in bubble wrap and threw it in a box with packing peanuts). HP won't complain as long as the lappy is well protected.

Just an extension to this story.. I waited a damned week for an EMAIL from HP telling me when fedex was gonna pick it up.. well, No email arrived so I got ahold of HP again asking them why, they never really gave me a reason, took down all my info again, and said they fixed it and I should have the email within 24-48 hours.. Well, I got a PM today from the guy I got the laptop from and he quoted the email thay HP sent to him.. they are trying to have fedex pick up the laptop from him in California..not me in Texas.. I swear to god HP has got to employ some of the dumbest people Ive ever seen in my life.. so, moments before I started this post, I just got done yelling at HP AGAIN, supposedly they have it all fixed now and Fedex should be picking it up monday, we'll see....

1) You need to call HP and have it registered in YOUR name... with your address and everything...

2) Have them process a NEW CSO...

3) Get a box (any box) that your laptop will fit in and will have 3+ inchs of packing on every side... Tape it up and do everything HP tells you to... To make sure the CSO is processed quicker make sure you clearly write the CSO number on 5+ sides of the box (I.E., CSO# 0000000000)...

Well, how about this.. I never received an email saying when fedex was gonna pick it up.. I was told that I would have the email BY monday and they my order was expedited to be picked up monday.. WRONG!!

No email, no Fedex... someone wanna give me some advice on what I should do now.. obviously thier online and phone support is AWFUL.. lieing sons of bxtches.. so im gonna need a new approach.. any ideas?

This is what im betting happened... They didnt have your e-mail so they sent it to the other guy... Call phone support at either 11am or 1pm PST on tuesday. Thats the best time to call if you can... If you cant at those times then later at nigh like after 8pm or 9pm PST is also good...

Yeah, you can just put your lappy in any box, just make sure you secure it. And I too have bad experience with HP support through email!!! My problem was their Lightscibe external DVD burner (dvd640e) & I even bought it from hpshopping.com for $20 more than regular retail electronics stores! I email them regarding my problem but they replied without really answering my questions!!! The answer was rather basic & I tried again a week later & guess what!!! I receive the exact same response (seems like a cut & paste email reply!!!). It makes me think that their email support is basically automated!!! So I guess to really confirm that you'll get a FEDEX shipping confirmation, I would suggest you call them & "bug" the h*** out of their phone support center!!!! Anyway, good luck!!!

OMG I JUST WANNA STAB HP IN THE THROAT!!!

THEY SENT FEDEX TO PICK IT UP FROM THE WRONG GUY AGAIN!!!

I went to bestbuy to see if they could help me ship it out, but they HAVE to have the receipt.. Im nearly ready to drive 6 hours out to the HP repair facility and STAB EVERY MOTHER F ER I SEE!!!

OK.. update on the situation.. and for once, HP IS GONNA BE PISSED AT ME!!!!

after a few more short conversations with HP online techs, they gave me the address to send it to, and HP's fedex shipping account #.. >:-)

Well, I went to fedex just a little bit ago, the lady there was giving me lip about how HP's not supposed to give out thier account info, but went ahead with all of this anyways..

Well, I shipped the laptop Express overnight (Guaranteed by next buissness MORNING to CA from TX), insured for 1500$, and the 10$ laptop fedex shipping box they told me id have to buy.. the overall cost of shipping was 283$!!!

HP never gave me any special shipping instructions, so they cant say shxt about this.. when they send fedex to your house to pick up stuff, they use just regular overnight, which is only about 100$, but with express Overnight and 1500$ insurance, it was hella expensive.. i KNOW im gonna get a pissy email from them, but they cant say shxit about it, and when I get back home, im gonna get back online with HP tech, and with some tricky wording, im gonna get the tech to say it was OK for me to do that cause at most they could bill me for the box, but once I get a tech to say it was fine for me to use the account the way i did, they cant do NE thing about it.. :-)

they are getting what they deserved...
