I'll read your silly whining thread anytime I'm extremely bored, and will then become even more bored by your endless negativism and whining. I don't give a shlt about your obvious thin skin and bad attitude.

I merely stated that I wondered how much you bring upon yourself. Big fuc|<in deal. Certainly, many people would reasonably wonder the same.

Go on now... call me names and make your weak threats. You can't help it.

What a douche bag.

It's a discussion forum, people discuss things. Now pull the stick out of your ass and go about your way.

Man I swear, if they would just get some real help instead of sending it out to India where they pay them 45 cents and hour, maybe they would have some decent tech support that you can understand. Right now its been esculated so high again that I have to waste my time waiting for a call from their Case Manager. Its a simple problem, check to make sure the version is correct and then send it out to me. Not that hard, but its impossible for them to understand even after I explained this exact method.

Edit: rokhead your post was unnecessary and you are just showing your ignorance by posting such a thing. If you don't like what we are saying then ok, you don't have to read this. No one is forcing you to and obviously there was no reason to post either. So do us a favor and don't post if its just to start a fight.

Brandon88, GOOD NEWS for you...

I read HP is in the process of building a huge call center in Texas right now and closing down allot of it's overseas call centers.

* * * *

PS: Brandon88, Dell and allot of other mfg's outsource to call centers in India. If you are unhappy with your HP, return it and buy something else.

FYI: for that don't know, Brandon88 was given the HP he currently has as a grad gift by Mommy and Daddy.... Brandon88 is extremely unhappy with his HP because it has a "weak" video card and he can't play the latest games.

Brandon88's best option would be to return or sell the unit and buy something else.

I predict for as long as Brandon88 has the unit he currently has he will at EVERY chance say negative things about HP.

Brandon88 talks about doing a motherboard swap (LOL) on a brand-new machine-Posted the parts numbers he would need with the prices, etc and he NEVER posted back in that thread.

http://www.notebookforums.com/post2256226-9.html

Brandon88 doing more talking about not being happy with the GPU, talking about doing a motherboard swap.
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread159745.html

Brandon88 talking crazy,,,

(I guess he hasn't priced what a Alienware motherboard would cost , what the GPU is going to cost for that motherboard... Nevermind the fact there's NO way a Alienware motherboard is going to fit into a HP as he put it in his own words a "gpu challanged dv8000z with the stupid xpress 200m".

Bunch of info is posted to help Brandon88....
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread160880.html

Along with this little bit of info to make sure he gets the correct parts:. little note about that, if the part you need isn't listed on partsurfer, good luck...

Before you call them go here to get the PART numbers of the disc's you will need... While the rep can/may be able to "look it up"... it helps to verify (and speed up) the process. Give them an e-mail and they will send you a confirmation e-mail for each part ordered. http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main

Brandon88,

See if the charge card used by your mommy and daddy has some kind of policy in it that could be used to just get the money back....

Most cards have a way to return something, get a charge back done, even beyond the offical store return window.

Sounds like you're not happy with the machine, and you never will be.

Best option is to return /swap for something else that has a more powerful GPU.

What version is listed on partsurfer? Did you verify the correct part number(s)?
Yeah I'm just tired of dealing with companies. Almost all of them are like this and its rare to find a good one. What version is listed on partsurfer? Did you verify the correct part number(s)? I got the right version, but it isn't actually as it says. The DVD says 2005, but it is actually 2002 when you install it. A case manager is looking into this for me. On another note, I don't really want to get rid of this notebook because its very good except in one area. I also haven't been able to get the same specs on a notebook without it costing like a few hundred more. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

Edit: If you could find me a notebook with a Turion 64 proc, 2gigs of ram, 240 gig dual hard drive, a top of the line video card, 17" screen, dual layer lightscribe DVD burner, tv tuner for around $1800 I'd be very greatful.

Hey, Just to let you know I dislike dealing with big companies also. Been doing it for many years longer that most here have been alive and that is a big reason I always point people to Costco, because of the six-month return window in cases where the mfg is jerking you around, can't get it right.

(I've thought from time to time rigging up something to record the phone conversation, call them, then when they pick up, say hold for just a few seconds, have to catch this other line, will only take about 15 seconds... then play a pre-recorded that says, thank you for holding, next rep will be right with you, your call "may" be recorded! ... and then come back to them...

That way legally I would think you could record the conversation..... It would appear that you were "at-work" making the call.... I would think that would work allot better than asking them in person... (I've done that and most people say they don't want to be recorded and will refuse to talk)

On the DVD,... it takes a while for the partsurfer site to update, and allot of time the parts listed may indeed not be the latest version.

For example when I was trying to source a QuickPlay 2.0 install disc... the HP partsurfer site was only lising QuickPlay 1.0

Another example, I've been trying to get a hard drive since APRIL-2006.. .. Mulitple screw ups, allot of my time wasted (probally 15- 20 hours on the phone!)

Case manager couldn't order the hd because he couldn't find the correct part number, (in fact while in our first conversation he had placed the order, luckily while I had him still on the phone I had him double check to make SURE it was the right one and found it was for a (z) series, instead of the (t) series using a SATA hard drive.) Him saying he was showing NO listing for the (t) series.

For a period of several weeks the order could not be placed (partsurfer not showing the part)

Then by happen chance I looked in the Maintaince and Service Guide for my model (dv8000t) and found the part number...

Called and got it "ordered".... then called back about a week or so later and found the order had indeed NOT been placed...

I then checked partsurfer, typing in the part number itself and found the description being 120 gig, 5,400.... and then when I clicked on the models it fit selecting my unit the description changed to 80 gig.

That took about another week of so, several phone calls and a e-mail to the partsurfer division to get straightened out. Never got an e-mail back thanking me for bringing it to their attention, sorry for any inconvenience... Nor an e-mail saying the part description had been changed and that I could order the part.... Nothing...

Once I got the part description changed, I had to call again... I think this time getting an order confirmation, with the correct part number. ETA, last month... and I still don't have it!

Called a few more times, this time calling "tech" support, several times being on hold a while, only to have to "hang-up" and call back since the reps had such a thick Indian accent. Finally got a hold of a rep with an accent that I could talk with. He at first saying he could not provide any details (Which is understandable since the order had been placed by a case manager).... So I asked him to check, him creating an order like he was authorizing an order placement and he told me the hd was showing a 5 -day deleivery time frame (3-day back log- 2 day ship).

Well that was about a month and a week ago.... for it being showing "in-stock" 5 day delievery time frame.... What really burns me up is units being shipped from China for the past two -three months
(2nd week of April -2006) + being shipped with the very same hd. In fact it was less than 8 hours after my unit had been shipped, that hd was appearing as an option.

******

Now to address your concerns, You said in one of your posts the machine being like $2,000.. . (for a 8000z series?)

For that kind of money, I'd take that sucker back and look around with something with a more powerful GPU if your wanting to play games.

Option it out with base ram as in most cases you can max out the ram 3rd party thru www.newegg.com

Hope the info helps. If I was you I really would look into swapping the unit for at least a dv8000t with the 7600 GPU. If you bought thru HP for example you could have your parents called up threatening to do a charge back on the credit card and you may be able to get a dv8000t shipped to you.

If not take the cash. Look at the Dell 1705 with the 7900GS. Be warned you'll still be talking to those indian reps though. (most of them nice, just can't understand them, and since they speak english as a second language it's hard for them to know where you're coming from (i.e understand you).
Hmm, I'm not sure about the dv8000t. I was really looking to try out the AMD proc because all I have ever had has been Intel. Also even though the Turion64 not to be confused with the Turion64 x2, is a single core proc it is a 64-bit where as the Core Duo is only a 32-bit. I know that 64-bit won't matter until later down the road when they start using it more, but I just wanted to try it out. A dual core proc is something I would like to try, but haven't seen a Turion64 x2 offered up in any notebooks other than the SUPER priced Alienwares. I guess I'm being a little stubborn about this, but I really want to try the different companies out because I don't want to have a bias towards one or the other. I want to know which works best for me with my own opinions not others. Sorry if I'm causing you trouble.

Edit: I checked out Costco. and I get the same price pretty much as my parents paid.

1: In a notebook the Core Duo is faster (Core Duo 2's will be out in a month- 20-30% faster, will do 64-bit OS)
2: 2 gig ram can be bought at www.newegg.com for about $170 "if needed)
3: Dual layer lightscribe DVD burner is a HP only item I believe
4: Tv tuner?, No problem

$1800... see below.. You could probally get the price down a few bucks by ordering with the base ram. Edit: upgrade 2 gig about the same, how about you do this, order with base ram (1 gig), You'll save $176.. and then order the 2 gig thru www.newegg.com and you ship your base ram to me, I'll pay you the differance + shipping.

Yeah I can trade my dv8000z in for a t, but I really wanted to try out AMD. Ugh I'm just really bent on trying out AMD if you read above. CompUSA was willing to trade the dv8000z for the t last time I was there. (i.e. this is where my parents bought it)

Brandon88,

How can I put this....

You'd be a fool not to do so.

Hate it that Compusa will have to eat the return, but you're VERY lucky that the machine was bought there instead of thru Hp with their 21-day return policy.

Core Duo is a good cpu. If you time it right the new Core Duo 2's should be an option.... They are supposed to be released any day now. Mfg's are gearing up for them.

PS: I just searched all 4 pages of this thread for the term "Compusa" and it only appears (1) time...

If Compusa is willing to do a trade for a dv8000t with the 7600 GPU you need to box it back up and head on over there. You're never going to be happy with the Z you have now because of the weak GPU.

Core Duo 2's will be out soon.

On the Alienware machines, etc Differant CPU's being offered you have to look at how much money you have.

64-bit? Well Vista still isn't here (at retail) and once they do release it there will be a period of about 2 years in which there's going to be teething problems. Unless you have a high frustration level you be well off to stick with a proven OS.
Yeah, but they only offer the go7400 and I'm not sure if they will do that trade now. I haven't been there in a month.

Got any other excuses besides that?

Return it get your cash back, buy somewhere else if they don't CTO units.

Listen friend, it is *your* reply that is unnecessary and ignorant. And no, my initial post was not intended to start a fight. I fight enough with indians named Bobby and Susie. (Susie has blond hair).

Now, carefully read the italicized red quote above and contemplate that when we get pissed off with these jackass, moronic, excuse-for-a-support-desk clowns, (wherever they be), they most likely just drop the case entirely or just continue to simply fuc|< with us by failing to do The Right Thing. This conclusion is what prompted my original query, "I wonder what you might have done to bring this on yourself".

People like you and others then get offended and whine about it, while failing to consider the obvious meaning. You accidently stumbled across the meaning, didn't discern it, then found fault with me... an owner of Dell and HP machines. You would be better advised to find fault with the helpless desk staff morons.

Regardless, let's just say that you win. This reply sub-thread ends here.

By the end of today, hopefully I will have my decision made. Then if I do decide to go with the dv8000t I hope there won't be any hassles.

Edit: rokhead, I apologize for being a little hasty. I thought you were just here to start a fight.
