Well, yesderday I once again got tired of HP's shxt and took the laptop to Fedex myself.. I should have been getting it BACK yesterday but those incompetent idiots over there cant figure out how to scheduel a pickup.. but, I did the say thing I did the first time minus making them pay the 10$ for the box.. and shipped it off.. but the service center isnt open on the weekends, so itll probbably be wednesday or thursday before I see it.. They did however tell me that if I have to send it in a 3rd time, they will give me a new laptop, and I saw they have a couple refurbed ZD8250's.. im definantly gonna go after one of em..

time for ANOTHER update..

So, I sent it in myself, talked to tech support a couple times since then, was told it would be here wednesday or thursday.. Well, it didnt show up today so I once again got online and talked to someone, and they told me that it hasnt even been shipped because it was marked tha tI needed to call the logistics dep..I called them and spoke with a guy that was nearly impossible to understand and all they wanted was my authorization to change the motherboard.. WTF.. They changed the mobo the first time I sent it in w/o my auth.. I dont get it..

Why the fxck are they doing this to me.. none the less, Im going to induce the problem when it gets back here so I can send it back because on the 3rd time they told me I can choose a new laptop.. And I see they have some loaded ZD8250's with my name on one..

I wish I could set up a vBookie and take bets on wether you guys think this will work out how I want it..

Not to my supprise, I check my CSO status today and it never shipped yesterday as promised, not only that, but they STILL have the wrong address... I yelled at the tech for a while and he said I need to call in to authorize them to replace the video controller chip.. Ugh, not only that, but het told me they were replacing it with a 5600 Go chip.. the one in there was a 5700.. so, no im getting back an even shittier laptop than before.. Ugh, God I hate HP.. I cant wait for all of this to be over with..

Omg man, nasty story. I've allways liked HP because they make good and nice computers, but this maked me chocked. Anyway i hope it will turn out good in the end.

I owned Compaqs/HPs for most of my laptop career (7 laptops, 5 were Compaqs) and until Compaq was bought by HP... and I will never recommend buying anyone to buy one for this exact reason that you have stated.

I hope it all works out for you, but they did the exact same thing to me... dicked around with me until my warrenty expired and it died completely.

the first thing you do when you get a laptop that has a warrenty, SWITCH THE USER INFO, i read most of this and havent herd you said you did

no wonder they shiped the box to cali, thats the guy they had on their file, they dont record your phone number and tap it and get an addy

and you cant tell them it eaither they go by their files

also.......when they say laptop box, they mean laptop box, go to ANY shipping store and ask for a laptop box

they dont give 2 shizzles if you use the orginal box or not, as LONG as it has 3 inches (needed for any inssurence claim to be ligit) of padding on each side!

and this is your first laptop right?

trust me, its diffrent world of laptops i know you had a desktop and if somthing broke you can easily repair/replace it

im into laptops around the same time you traded yours on hardforums

its a diffrent ball feild, tho i can tell you, dell was a straight shot from me asking for my lcd to be replaced to the guy coming here and doing it

was done in all of 3 days (first 2 days were me finding out what kinda warrnety it has, 3rd was him replacing with a new not refurb lcd)

and it just had a nick it in, a bothersome one, and dead pixels, no charge to me at all

but im buying an HP next laptop once this one sells

And no, this isnt my first laptop, this is actually about my 12th.. I buy broken ones and fix them up, or trade computers for them.. Ive only actually bought 1 new laptop, and that was a Sager 4780 back in Jan of last year..

But back to the story that never ends..

so, Here is what has happened since my last post.. Ive still been harassing the online tech support about the status of my laptop, on the 8th one technician I was talking to was like "The estimated Delivery date of your laptop is 2/3/06".. I just kinda sat there and I said "You do know its the 8th right?".. she just said yes, and then the chat mysteriously died..again..

I wish I could just post ALL of my chat transcripts for you guys to read..

But anyways, I believe now that they know who I am since Ive talked to so many of them, they either end the session as soon as it starts, or bounce me around until someone finally takes it and then they close the chat session just after it starts..

but anyways.. So, I just finally said Fxck it and didnt bother them for about a week, after that week passed, I once again got online with the tech support and they keep telling me they have upgraded this to the "concerned department".. ive called almsot every department, talked to probbably half the staff of HP between here and Abu Dabi.. I finally told them I dont even want this back, they have eaten up like 4 months of the warranty, they do nothing but piss me off, and I dont even want the laptop.. IF I get it back ill just sell it and get me a Dell or something.. In a nutshell, they are still making me crazy because they keep telling me itll ship soon, that itll be fixed soon, and that all the info changes are taken care of.. and its all Bullshxt..

well, sunday night I get online and check the CSO status.. I was baffled to see that it has been shipped on the like 17th, but wouldnt arrive till monday.. well, come sunday night, the guy whos house im staying in is locking me out because I brought a couple of my chick friends to go play pool with us and he has some grudge against hot chicks because he thinks they are all "dumb Bitches".. which he smeared in my car windows when he left.. So anyways, im locked out of the house and have to stay at Felicias house.. I got up and drove to craigs house at 9 monday morning only to find out I had JUST missed Fedex by about 10 minutes.. and sure enough, Craigs lazy druggie ass is still sleeping and didnt hear the doorbell.. well, last night I stayed at a different friends apartment (Because once again he is locking me out) and left here at 8.. I was like 2 minutes from Craigs house when the Fedex truck passed me, so I haul ass to the house only to find that him and his sister are sleeping, and another god dxmn door tag..

Woulda helped if HP TOLD me that they shipped it.. they STILL havent gotten all the info right yet, its still addresses to Jeff, but has Craigs address.. God, I just wanna stab everyone on the planet right now.. I have so much BS going on in my life right now that I dont have TIME to deal with this crap...

OMG, I just cant win.. I just called Fedex, I cant reroute the package, and I cant pick it up from thier facility because HP STILL has the Jeffs name on the package.. and now I cant chat with HP because thier chat system is down.. AGGGGHHHGHGHGHGHG

because when they changed the format, i called Kyle out saying hes a sell out for thinking his site is this awesome not full of banner adds, unopinionated reviews ect ect

and then i made a thread wondering why in Genmay that like 10 threads a day get closed yet its genmay=free to say what you want

so yeah, i got baned, oh well though, havent looked back, i still stick to my words

and man that sucks, you should call up CS, demand to speak to a supivisor in america or somthing.....or at least canada

The ETA for the 5700 chip is until March.

ALL the zd7k had to go through the same, there weren't any motherboards left.

I agree, the service mostly sucks and you shouldn't need to ever send your NB back from service. If this time it isn't fixed I'm pretty sure you will get a replacement. On the top, they are not making the zd7k anymore so you would probably get a zd8k or something... Just watch out for something, most of the times they will give you a refubrised item (just as good most of the times) but it will only come with 90 day warranty if your warranty is under 90 days, otherwise it will be transfered. You should extend it as soon as you can.

They won't bitch at all about the shipping, or at least I've never seen them doing it. Probably they just don't care, it just comes in a big bill to them.

I understand your frustration and all that but screaming to the people at the phone won't help at all, actually it can make things harder for you. If you get a nice person then they get all stressed out and make mistakes. If you get a bastard then they will make the mistakes on purpose (I'm pretty sure the one with the wrong address was on purpose).

On the other hand, the problems with picking the NB up and all that, are not HP's fault, is FEDEX's. If anything, HP is to blame for having FEDEX as the provider for the service...

Im going to Cali to kick some Hindu ass!!! WHOS COMMIN WITH ME!!!!

Yeah, this story just keeps getting worse and worse..
So, today was the third attempt at delivery.. I called HP last night and got them to reroute my package to my other friends apartment, and they were also supposed to change the name.. Well, the last 2 attempts were there before 9am, so I figured I could grab it and get to work a little late.. well, come 9 this morning, no Fedex.. so I goto work late, pissed off.. Get off work, get back to the apartment and there is yet ANOTHER door tag.. I left the old one on the door when I left with a note that says to deliver to the office and they wrote me a note saying NO, DIRECT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, PACKAGE AVAILABLE AFTER 4PM AT DISTRIBUTION CENTER... so come 330, I drive 40 Fxckin minutes out to Fedex, get there only to find out that they cant give me the package because it STILL has Jeff's name on it.. Pulled up HP's number cause now I have it on fxckin SPEED DIAL, and called them.. After yelling at "Mike" for a while, (Dont let the name fool you, he hardly spoke english), I found out that HP must hate its customers.. I told him im not leaving fedex without my god damned laptop, and the nice lady at the desk gave me a Fax number to give to the guy.. All he had to do was fax them a note of Release on the laptop so I could take it with me, and HE WOULDNT FXCKING DO IT!!! I yelled at him for a bit longer and he put me on hold for like 10 minutes and we got a 3-way conversation between me, HP, and Fedex.. Fedex said that they would make a 4th attempt, I told them it HAD to be before 9am, he said thats possible, but it would cost extra.. HP denied accepting the charges, but they are still going to attempt delivery again tomorrow.. But this time Fedex has my cell #, and they will call me when they are on thier way to the apartment.. since I spent nearly an hour on the phone with the dumbass, I went about 45 minutes over my plan, so that call probbably cost me 15$.. The only up side to this is that I got another 170 days added to the warranty.. which really doesnt mean jack to me cause this thing is getting ebayed the second I get it back now, its like a monkeys paw....

BTW, I dont start off with the yelling, I jsut always end up yelling because they hav enot done 1 thing right so far and it irritates the FXCK out of me when they tell me something is done and its not.. They are only getting what they deserve..

I cant wait to see how this fails tomorrow.. Im pretty sure they are gonna ask for my ID when they deliver it, and since im not jeff, they wont give it to me.. that, or this apartment building is gonna catch on fire and the address will be deemed non existant.. I dunno.. and I dont really care.. As for right now, I have 400$ saved for a plane ticket out to Cali.. Which I will more than likely use to fly out there, bitch out everyone at HP, and fly back..

anyone here think I have any chance at suing HP?? Because Id really like to..

that really does suck bad, i honestly wouldnt have left fedex untill they released it to me

thats a bit bullish to me but hope tomorrow is better for you

words of advice.......talk to whomever you work for next time you expect a package, ask if you can have it as a secondary dilivery addy, i did it when i worked at a grocery store, worked fine

and i never have a sig confirm package sent to me, its annoying :P i dunno if thats HP's policy but it sucks

NOPE, TOMORROW(today) ISNT MY DAY EITHER!!!

I woke up at like 1130 and scrambled to check my phone for missed calls.. No missed calls.. Got online and checked the Tracking #, and sure enough, its still sitting at Fedex... god dxmn I hate everyone on this planet... and I told you it would fail..They are probbably gonna waste the 170 days they added to my warranty just getting it back to me..

Actually they located in Bangladesh and there is another center that I can't remember where it is.

If you mention lawsuit on the phone you will get to a supervisor or to a quality manager right away but would not recommend it. I would suggest to request a supervisor as soon as you get someone on the line.

Also, if you want to get to the corporate side of HP then you only need to go to Palo Alto, California. The service center is in Fremont and you can bitch at them too. But going to India won't do shit... I also dislike their service but very slowly HP is reducing their man power there and increasing the one in North America.

If you want to get a better chance to talk to someone in North America I would recommend you to call between 6 am and 11 pm Pacific time, monday to saturday. Keep trying until you get someone from that center (without an accent) and try to get a quality manager as they have more privileges to make you happy. Their position exists to fix indian **** ups like this.

I feel your pain my friend and wish you good luck.

Day 4 of it sitting at Fedex.. I cant call them so it would cost me .40c a minute.. So Im online with a technician.. bitching them out as usual, telling them to call Fedex and tell them to have my laptop to me by 3pm.. Well, some time in the conversation, she says the the Laptop is registered to one "Jeff Cloherty".. I told her again, that he was the original owner, and I own it now.. and for 4 months I have been trying to have them change the info.. then she tells me ONLY the phone support people can change the info.. so now they have been LIEING to me for 4 FXCKING months about them changing the info.. Now she is refusing to give me the number and extension of anyone in management...

Expect to see a body count in Union city, CA next week...

hopefully everything works out.... i wonder if hp/compaq is really that bad down south. in canada i wouldnt of have such a problem. i have only had a handful of problems with hp and their warranty repairs and i deal with 10+ per week..... again i hope you get this sorted out.
