RAM in Ferrari 4002

Would this ram stick work in the Ferrari 4002?

Thanks

It'll work flawlessly although you should note that the ram sticks will not run in pc3200 mode. They will be downclocked to pc2700 because of bios limitation.

You should also note that if you use a program called A64 Tweaker you can make that memory run at its full 400MHz speed and not have them run downclocked.

You should also note as well, that the A64 Tweaker program has proven to be un-reliable in regular use.

Myself and another that I know of for sure have had trouble with the system freezing when trying to use the program.

But I haven't checked for an update to A64 Tweaker in a while either.

BTW.

I don't know if there is much difference in Canadian money as opposed to US, but NewEgg has got that memory for much cheaper it seems.

1GB OCZ

But it seems NewEgg doesn't ship to Canada.

Yeah the program freezes ur computer if u mess with the settings and do somethin wrong or that shouldnt be messed with.

If ur bios supports ddr400 ram, and u use a64 to set it to 200mhz instead of 166, then there should be no problem with any version of the software.

If it keeps freezing up on u, then ur messing with the wrong things. I did that too plenty of times, but if i just change the speed to somethin that the bios and ram can handle then there are no problems

I understand where you're coming from.

Although, in regards to the Ferrari 4005, everything except the BIOS supports DDR-400 RAM, but even using A64 Tweaker to change only the RAM speed from 166MHz to 200MHz, sometimes it works, sometimes it completely freezes the system. It is, unfortunately, very inconsistant.

Thats weird, Ive been doing this at 100% success rate on an aspire and a compaq laptop.

But I guess the 4k2 is not so lucky.

That's great to hear, I'm glad someone is getting good use out of it.
The idea behind the program is great.

Would you mind sharing what version of A64 Tweaker you are using and what are the general specs of the systems?
As in, chipset and CPU.

Im using the v0.6 Beta version, I think its the lateset one, and when u search for a64 on google thats the one you get.

As for the specs, Im using it on an Aspire 5002WLMi with the ML-30 and the SIS760gx Mirage2 chipset, and on a Compaq v2000z with the ML-28 and the ATI Xpress200m chipset.

Hmmm... looks like I might of been wrong on the A64 Tweaker un-reliable claim.

Decided to give it another shot today, and it's been working fine so far, the 0.31 version that is.

I spent extra time and verified all the correct timings.
It seems, at-least on the Ferrari 4k5, the only thing you may be able to play with is the RAM's MHz setting.

One thing to keep in mind is that different RAM has different timings.

I used CPU-Z to get the exact timings of the RAM I installed. And it seems to work just fine.

Here is hoping the trend continues.

I'll report back with any changes, if there are any.

Ok, I've been running A64 Tweaker for the past couple days.

Pros:
Well, the performance boost is nice, why else would I be trying to use this program in the first place.

Cons:
The first thing I notice is that the settings made by A64 Tweaker are not retained after resuming from Hibernation. I haven't tried Stand By yet. So every time I power up my system from a hibernated state, I have to re-apply the settings.
It's also frooze my system once, the instant I clicked on the "Set" button.

What I don't know is why the system freezes. Is it a glitch in the code, or could it be that the AMD PowerNow system was throttling the CPU when I hit the set button. I don't know.
When it works, it is nice. Everything feels a bit more responsive.
So far, I can't find any negative side affects from running the system at DDR-400 speeds. But I've also got RAM that is rated to run at DDR-400 speeds. I don't think I would want to try it with the stock RAM.
