No doubt the 9100/XPS was a fantastic Desktop replacement system. With that said, you can not compare 15.4 Pentium-M system that is much thinner, lighter and has 3-4 times the battery life. When you are talking about the thermal/power concerns of a graphics card with this kind of power in a small and lite system with long battery life its just not easily done. The XPS2 and 9300 are lighter, thinner, have better battery life and better GPU performance than the XPS/9100 platform.

Agreed!!! Just think for a moment!!! By keeping the possible options/configurations that they currently provide, it may actual bring them more sales because after getting a system you like (eg. M140; for portability), you may even buy another different model (eg. 9300; for gaming) etc to better fit your needs. So if they (for eg.) put a great dedicated graphics chip on the M140, then they will most probably sell only 1 notebook instead of 2 because the M140 already takes care of all your needs all at once!!!

Sad to say but it's a typical business strategy!!!

Personally i dont know anyone stupid enough to buy two laptops at $1000+ each.. If you meet one, you should kick them in the nads

you absolutely need a 2nd fan for something like a 6800go(even non ultra), there is no use in carrying an 8+ pound 15", might as well have 17". Do you see? a 15" gaming lappy would constitute a niche market, there's no money in that for a company like Dell. Now if you could build your own...

Face it: the 6000 is made for people who made the wrong choice, i wouldnt even by this thing for me grandma. With that said, im sure as sheat not spending over 2,000 for a lappy, I made the decision that finanially makes sense to me

desktop replacement (sorry xps2/m170 lurkers): If you want to play the lastest games you could build a kick ass desktop that would shread the xps line and buy a compaq P.O.S. for portability for a competitive price. O.K. you want 15" gaming machine, dont buy a Dell, rather dont get a Pentium M based lappy.

sorry if I hijacked...

I would want an x1600, it has twice the performance of an x700! Its coming out Jan with all of the INtel stuff so dont be suprised if dell releases a new notebook with this in.
