Graphic problem.

Hi, ive had my notebook for over a year now...

I mainly use it to game, game I primarily play at this time is WoW.

Problem started a couple weeks ago. After about 30min in game the graphics would start going crazy, flickering and making everything unviewable.

I would go to desktop, and it would have wierd discolored pixels in random areas, lines across webpages...

clearly something is wrong.

So knowing a little bit about computers, i figured this might be some type of driver issue, even though i havent changed anything around when this started happening.

So firstly i went to Sager website, searched for right driver, no new drivers out.

I then went to ati website. saw they had a catalyst out for notebooks, uninstalled original driver and installed that. Same problem.

Friend then told me of omega drivers. so I unstalled previous and installed the omega.

Same problem.

Before i format my HD from fear something bad is on it causing this problem...

anyone have ANY ideas?

aslo ive done viruss scans and spyware...

uninstalled old progs i never use.

im at wits end here.

thanks in advance.

after changing my memory speed to 236 and core speed to 461, my problem is fixed.

simple little tweak and problem is solved.

hope it stays this way.

Hope that keeps you fixed up. Not all of the rest of us have been so lucky.

If it's still under warranty send it back in... Really that's the best actual fix for this problem. Mine did that stuff 5 days out of the box from sager and I sent it back in before I even had it for 2 weeks, I haven't had a problem with artificing in the 9 months I've had it since.

I've had mine for about 18 months and within the last 2 weeks mine started doing the infamous artifacting. I cleaned it thoroughly and although better, it did not eliminate the problem. Weird thing was that it wouldn't do it at work but would go nuts at home. So knowing that this is nothing but a heat issue with the GPU from all the previous threads...I placed a fan next to the laptop as I use it and (my lab is air conditioned and kept fairly cool due to the equipment) it appears to be working for the time being. I am looking at the CoolerMaster NotePal for 17" laptops...a cheap $35 for a possible short term fix. My long term solution is far more drastic...I'm through with "desktop replacement" laptops. Call it an expensive learning experience. I'm presently building me a new system and should be done by Xmas.
