Can I play BF2 on my Laptop?

My goal is to be able to play BF2 at around 1024x768 with mild to high settings (no AA or anything) I was originally going to invest in a new video card and ram for my desktop (listed below). I was gonna get a 9800 so i would be able to play BF2 w/o having to dump too much cash.

However I was wondering if i could just invest that money in my laptop and have a mobile BF2 machine and I can use my 360 for my other gaming thirst.

Could I just invest in another 512 or 1G of ram for my laptop and beable to obtain my results? I can currently play CSS at 1024x768 w/ medium-high settings at 56 FPS. SO could I play BF@ with a little more RAm?

All specs are below and THank you.

download the demo and try it yourself. but the answer for me though is yes, it can work, but not as good as CSS. good luck!

Yeah, the demo will give you an idea. But, BF2 is really a killer. Most addicts on Planet BF2 forums suggest that 1.5-2gb of RAM are really needed (it WILL play on less, but you will have some longer loading times and stuttering on larger levels).

I have a 8600 just like you, but have 1gb of ram (every thing else just the same). I played 1024X768, but everything was low/mid and it occasionally had some lagging probs. I have it on my 3ghz P4, 1.5gbRAM, ATI 800XL desktop, and while I did run it at very high settings (around 1600 and everything high/very high) but it stuttered a lot on larger maps (esp just after level load).

Now whether this is because the game is soo graphic-intensive, or because it was coded by a bunch of monkeys with computers, who knows...

But, HL2 and Doom3/Quake4 will play better/smoother with same settings than BF2 on larger maps.
