have you used it?
I downloaded it but I still have to wait for my AW computer to come. I dont think it would look good on my desktop(Gateway)
Also what do you do just unzip it then use the program?
Is there anyother ones that would be good for AW systems

Maybe I just watched Independance Day too much or something, but I want to make mine show the Hal9000 red eye and say "Good Morning Dave" when you turn it on and "What are you doing Dave?" when you shut down. Ever since I saw that I've wanted it. Now I'll have a computer slick enough to justify it.

Any one wanna explain how to do/use something like that? TIA

This is how its done

1. Find out which version of Windows you are using, and if you have a service-pack installed. "this is very important".

2. Download the file which is compiled for the version of windows that you are using. "make sure that it is the right one"

3. Delete the file called ntoskrnl.exe" It is in the Windows\system32 folder".

4. Copy the version that you have download to the same folder. "make sure that the name of the new file, matches the deleted one"

5. Reboot, and enjoy your new boot screen.

ps. I whould make a back-up of the original file, just to be on the safe side.

To apply the boot screens from themeXP.org all you have to do is download styleXP(which is a great program)and select the option to add the theme or whatever is downloaded from their site apply it and it's done. Really easy.

That first one is scary. Very X-Files.

Hey is anyone getting a choice of to operating systems at boot after using Style XP to install a boot screen. If so does anyone know away to fix this issue
post #15 of 35

The choice of bootscreen

You should not have used StyleXp instead of the guide i wrote! Stylexp gives you the option of having multiple bootscreens, but i dont think that any of us want that. If it is possible delete the new boot-screen, and use my approach instead.

Its ok if you want more than one boot screen to choose from, but if not, delete it, and use the manual approache instead.

My desktop talks to me on bootup and shutdown. I've got the Asus a7n8x-dx. Well, my friend and i were messing around with the options and we recorded a bootup message so now it tells me,

"Hello Tim, You're quite good at turning me on" when it boots without errors.

That's good. Same as the one on the Simpsons:

Mr. Burns: Hello Smithers, you're quite good at turning me on.

Then Smithers talks to Lisa: Just ignore that.
