I cant get that aliens screen to work on my alienware area51m i just got yesterday.
not the one with the shiny green eyes, but the white ones looks like xfiles.
i am using bootxp, it shows up fine in windows, but when it goes to load the boot screen it screws up and does a blue screen of death. i can get back using the backup boot screen.

before i installed my ati 7.95 drivers, i had some crappy vga drivers from MS, and the alien boot screen loaded but had crappy colors like orange.

arg. i love this screen, i have reformatted my computer 10 times today trying to get it to work and failing....

Make sure you're using the right version with your OS...(ie WinXP SP1 or SP2) it makes a big difference! and to test it see if you can mod boot.ini with that program, I use a different one called "logon uiboot randomizer" and it allows you to make a test OS to boot from that you can remove at a later time. If you need any help, you can reach me via AIM at p8ntbalinzephed

P.S. Be carefull with what you do, if you don't know, stop and get someone who does, I had to reinstall my OS because my old one locked me out and just kept rebooting on the XP boot screen, and it messed my HD up BAD!

Alienware Gamers boot screen.

I made my own alienware gamers boot Screen not the best looking on ein the world but I thought it was pretty cool. Check out the pic below for a preview.
Working on getting it on themexp.com for everyone that wants it.

I will try to put a tutorial on how I did this in the useful freeware and tweaks thead soon.

messed with the boot screen once on my old computer. I have defintly screwed it up many atimes, its a big risk. Might have to do one though just for the sake of it. Remember that you will be working with a limited color depth, (16 I think).

how come it says "Bitmap image is not valid." when I try to replace the boot screen with this?

this is in ResHacker btw, the program indicated in the do-it-yourself boot screen site...

nevermind, figured it out

everyone remember that you can't use any compression on the bitmaps you use for the boot screen
