Besides filling in the standard Windows XP startup information, NOTHING. The thing is ready to rock 'n roll when you turn it on. Just install you game and PLAY!

take the laptop from the box it came in. take the adapter from it´s little plastic bag. use the adapter to connect the laptop to your prefered source of electricity. press the big button that turns the beasy on. watch it get into windows superfast. update gpu, agp, bios (optional). install your favourite game. ENJOY!

If you had any prior experience to WinXP than you probably shouldn't have asked that. That's what I say so I don't want to get into an argument ok.

Personaly

Personaly I formated and reinstalled windows as soon as I got it. This was because i had some driver issuse that was casueing the mouse to jump and skip and at the time i did not know what it was(now i knowit was teh A+B+G card set to passive scan all was well) I am a notoriout tweaker i tweak everything tilli get it just right then tweak it a little more. I also love the site of a fresh windows install all that extra space just waiting to be filled with all my crap. It's a wonderfulthing. Luckily with the restor CD formating an re installing windows took about 45min That is blazing fast considering my desktop took about 3hrs!

haha, yes. nothing beats the feeling of a brand new, clean and nice comp! it´s always so much fun figuring out how you are going to categorize your files and folders, how that and that and that will be and so on. oh i love it. can´t wait to get this damn computer to work completely. i refuse to bother with how i have things set up now that i do not know if i will have to send it back to alienware.

Well I don't have an Alienware yet I only have 1,000 cash but I will tell you that the first thing I do When I get a Pre built like my Dell 8200 is format it. These are the steps

*load Partition magic 8.0
*format C: so I have C,D.E 10gig each
*load win XP Pro
*tweak it. error reporting off system restore off, bah bah bah
*load all my video editing software Combustion 3.0,Maya,3ds max all of it.
*Run diskkeeper 7.0
*run norton ghost to make an Image

Then I load games and stuff. I hate all the BS that they load AOL this MS that bah

I know exactly what you mean by loading all the BS. I like a clean virgin system. I would feel dirty and cheap if I left it the way it came in the mail.
