Is the Asus Z63a the best option around 1k?

Thread Starter
Im looking at an almost bare boned Asus Z63 and it goes for about 1150. I am hoping to spend less than 1250 for everything. Is there a better alternative that you would recommend?

Other than that, I wish the S series of Fujitsu lifebooks were a tad cheaper... I would be all over that.

the asus would be good, but if you have a budget, check out compaq. they have a pretty good and pretty cheap 14"er. basically, if you can get the z63a speced how you want it for 1250 then get it, then it would be a great lappy. if not, then get the compaq.

Z63A is by far one of the best built 14" widescreen notebooks around.

I agree. The Z63a is the affordable W3... just without the aluminum and x600 gpu. Still a handy and stylish system though.

The Z63A is a great looking notebook. However, I have had some bad experiences with the rubber stoppers not doing a good enough job of keeping the keyboard panel and the screen panel from scratching each other when the notebook is closed. I have a unit that has very noticeable scratches on the edges of the keyboard panel and lcd panel.

Ceelo. My technicians wife has this already for a few months now. She gets atleast a couplke hours of use daily and carries with her to work. No such sign of ware like you described. Only way this can happen is if the keyboard was not seated correctly and that very well may be. There are 6 clips on the kb and 2 screws that need to be tightened.

The notebook I have came from ASUS directly. I spoke with them and they are aware of the issue.

Thats quite strange. And here all this time i thought DEALERS sell the z63a not asus directly. Asus wil not integrate or sell these units to endusers unless you are an employee. As for them being aware of the issue. Personally i ve never heard of this issue. So i think whover told you that was just following protocol. Check the assembly of this unit. If it is your understanding that it came from asus directly i would have reason to worry as they do not sell new product. They can sell used product to employees or so i hear.
