I'm doing a fresh install of XP Pro but am having trouble installing a few of the drivers provided by Sony at http://esupport.sony.com. They are the programmable i/o device driver and touchpad driver. When I run the executables, they say that it is "not intended for my computer model." Anyone run into similar issues... or have success with the same files? I have the recovery CD so I know I can use that route but have always preferred using the files from the website as it is easier. This process worked fine for my S150 and S360. The website provides the same files for all 3 models btw.

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

Hi
I had the same problem. I have downloaded the driver
ALPSTouchPadDriverforWin2KXP2003-11-14version1.00ASP25796.exe
from
http://members.driverguide.com/drive...action=summary
(free registration required).
It says it's HP driver but works for my S580.
Hope this helps!

I have the same problem, except I have the S580 and I do not have the recovery disks (hasty reformat...d'oh!)Any change you could perhaps send me the necessary files on that recovery disk?
Or is there anything else I can do?
Edit: Thanks to that that post by wojtek, I've already got my touchpad working so it's just the S1/S2 buttons left, I think. That and all the largely extraneous VAIO Central or Battery Management stuff.

In the same boat here. Just did a clean install of XP Pro on my new S560P and I'm amazed at how many of the sony supplied drivers fail to install (I get the same "not meant for your model" message). If I try to install things like the notebook utilities I get these wonderful dialog boxes complaining that my battery insn't connected properly (it works fine) and forces me to hibernate. So I'm on my 6th fresh xp install of the last two days trying to get my soundcard and touchpad going (I could care less about the function keys). I tried installing the hp driver linked above with no success. The realtek soundcard worries me more because it doesn't even show up in the device manager. Suggestions anyone? Any would be much appreciated.
Update: Ordered the restore dvds from sony yesterday (I was dumb enough not to burn them before the wipe). Hopefully it'll get me back to a state where everything is working. I guess I can live with tearing all the useless crap out of the stock XP installation.
