Averatec 1000 or Alienware Sentia?

Thread Starter
I'm comparing the lightest Alienware Sentia to the . The problem is, being a novice, I cannot compare the specs (this technology versus that). My goal is the lightest weight. I burn cds and open several web windows at once. Use hotspots. Here's the Averatec specs, which are not upgradable:
Processor-- Intel Pentium M (1.1 GHz)
RAM installed-- 512 MB DDR SDRAM
Hard drive-- 80 GB IDE
CD / DVD type-- CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo
Removable storage type-- None
Input device-- Keyboard, Touchpad
Weight-- 3.5 lbs
Dimensions (W x D x H)-- 10.5 in x 8 in x 1.4 in
Display-- 10.6 in TFT active matrix
Max resolution-- 1280 x 768
Audio output-- Sound card
Networking type-- Network adapter
Modem-- 56 Kbps Fax / modem
Battery installed-- 1 Lithium ion
Mfr estimated battery life-- 3.75 hour(s)
OS provided-- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Service & support type-- 1 year warranty

The Alienware has some choices, but I cannot figure out how to compare them one to one. Any advice? Thanks.
