The starter of the dell thread posted by ZetaGauss states that the LCD in fact has only 262,144 colors instead of the advertised 16,777,216 colors. The person also insinuates that the display uses 18-bit with dithering to achieve 16.19 million colors as opposed to the 16.78 million of real 24-bit displays. Is this claim true? Is Dell lying in their specs? This is the sort of thing that could conjure lawsuits.
