Very safe and responsible overclock for Z70va?

Thread Starter
Well, I've ordered it. Finally. My Z70va is on it's way from ISTNC, to be followed closely by an 80GB, 7200 rpm Travelstar and 2 gigs of Samsung Transcend RAM from Newegg. Got a 1.86 gig processor, 2915 wireless, DVD burner, Bluetooth. All for less than seventeen hundred. So I'm feeling pretty good. And I DON'T want to ruin that feeling! So I'm wondering what a very safe and stable overclock would be. Something that's really not risky, but will boost my performance. I don't think something like 400core 350memory would be too safe...but then again, I know nothing about OC'ing. So what should I do?

Also, if anyone could tell me how to undervolt my baby, or point me to a link, I'd be laughing. Thanks so much to all of you for helping me make the best decision in the end!

Happy holidays!

Rob.

Here's your link for the undervolting tutorial on the forums. Happy Holidays to you too . I just ordered my z70Va on Thursday. I will be a proud z70Va owner soon! I hope you enjoy yours very much!

I don't think there is a "responsible" way to overclock anything. Why would you need /want to overclock a Z70VA anyways? Doesn't it have enough power to run whatever you need to run? 2gb of RAM & an x700- I guess you're a hard man to satisfy.

Use Omega drivers.. found at www.omegadrivers.net
DO NOT install the ATi Tray Tool that's pre-packaged with the Omega drivers.. just download it separately from www.guru3d.com ..the one pre-packaged with the Omega has caused problems with z70va's.. You can use ATi Tray Tools to find your max core and memory. I would suggest to uninstall it after you find your max values and just use Notebook Hardware Control, as it can do the job of overclocking your GPU and undervolting your CPU.
