12" 2.8lb Ultraportable Notebook!
i would so go for the S5n. Its only a 12.1 inch screen, but its so worth it, i mean come on 2.8lbs! Plus if you get the 9 cell batter (that i have) i get between 6-10 hours depending on my Power4gear settigns.

If its an ultra portable you are looking for then weight is the most important factor, as well as battery life, at least those were my most important factors, as well as price. For $1,300 you cannot beat it!

I went from a desktop replacement Alienware to my S5n and i have never looked back. It does extremely well in photoshop, and anything else any typical ultraportable would be used for.

Good luck! But check out the S5n.

Ya, the S5A = sexy.

And at $1395, it only gets sexier.

simply beautiful...

Do you by any chance have any of the black ones in stock? or ever have any of the black ones?

I was luckey enough to get a black one... Im very happy with it, though that white keyboard looks sweet, its such a decision (at least on my part it was) to either go for black (very rare from my understanding) or the white that just looks sweet!

Actually we did, but since this model is being discontinued, we're offering this promotion on the few units left.
These units are white.

I was very interested in the M4000 but:
1.) It is NON-returnable to Sharp. All sales final, and there is no place to see one before ordering it.
2.) There have been some bad reviews of the keyboard. The keyboard is one of the few negatives that have been documented on it, mainly a "flimsy" feeling. I wish I knew if this was true or not, I would order one.

Interesting aamsel... What notebook did you decide to get instead of the M4000?
No decision.
I have had several notebooks in the past year or so. I am also interested in the M4000, but, as I said, other than the Laptop Magazine review (who loved it) I have read several negative reviews, specifically regarding the keyboard. Would like to hear from someone who has it who can comment pro or con.

I did the same thing. I had a DELL, near top of the line (3D card, WUXGA...ect) desktop replacement and went to the S5200N and couldnt of been happier.

I had a small laptop before the DELL, and now with the asus, I have an even smaller one. I just like small laptops. The size, weight...ect are all important to me. Im not a gamer, well old school (nes, snes, mame...ect) so I dont need a super powerful computer, just something thats easy to bring around with me wherever I go and doesnt take up much room on my desk.

BTW: spotdog14- What kind of ram do you have in it? I put a 512 micro-dimm in it when I bought it. Now that 1GB are coming down in price, im thinking of upgrading again. 1GB is the max for single micro-dimm sticks. Best price on ebay (new) is about 230 before shipping (still steep i know).

i put a stick of 512 crucial in (it was the cheapest i could find) about $98 i think. Im not sure what the max specs are for the S5n, i was thinking like you to get a gig stick, but i dont want to waste my money when only 512 of it is recognized.

BTW anways 768 is all i need, photoshop, star treck star fleed command, HL 1, and front page, and some times MS visual studio. They all run fine, the only thing i might consider getting is a 7200 rpm hdd. this 4200 one is SO SLOW!!! Its not that bad though, i boot from off to working desktop is about 40 seconds.

HOw are you on battery life. I recently purchased a 9 cell, i get about 6 with medium brightness and wifi on, i get about 10 with second from low brightness and wifi off and just typing in Onenote.

when i got y S5n i just finished building a sweet desktop for gaming. So i didnt need my Alienware laptop anymore and the Ati 9000m couldnt play BF2 at hte resolution and specs i wanted, let alone play it at all without a diver hack. Its funny how though, i havent turned on my desktop in about 2 months, i do everything on this little beast!

A little over 2 hours if im lucky. I guess the 7200 rpm drive uses a lil more power than I would like.
