Sager 5710 or Asus Z83V

I have decided to go with laptop with a 17 inch screen. I am not worried about mobility as this purchase will be a desktop replacement. They are both awesome products as I have seen from the reviews in the forums. I like these two notebooks because I can configure them somewhat the same. The major difference for me is the sager comes with a WSXGA as opposed to the Asus WXGA. The asus however comes with a built in TV-tuner while the sager does not. I don't think I will ever use the TV-tuner but it is a great feature at my disposal.

This would be my basic configuration.

1.73 GHZ processor
60GB 5400 HD
1025MB (1 dimm)
ATI X700 Video Adapter

Both are great 17" notebooks! Here is my question to whomever this would have applied to. For those that had the same dilemma regarding these two notebooks... what finally made you decide one over the other.

prices? that would help a little. If you dont care about the price, i would go with sager.

Well I don't know about the Sager, but the Z83 should be in the $1600 ballpark. I think the Sager is more, but most of the Sagers I've seen have been much fatter and heavier, but pack a lot of muscle. The Sager does have an optional TV-Tuner. But it is a tough decision. I would choose the Asus due to the styling.

Trust me.. the higher res is better.

starts at 1430, 1600 sounds decent for a reasonable machine

Yes with the same configs... the asus would be a little bit more. They both look awsome... i just can't make up my mind.

the lower res kinda ruines the asus. also, you can get the 5710 with an integrated tv tuner so that is not an issue. i also think you can get the sager for cheaper. either way, the higher res is definetly the way to go. if you get it from pctorque, i think you can even get wuxga res on the 5710
