IBM Thinkpad 600x POWER PROBLEM!

Hey Everyone,

Someone asked me to look at a IBM 600x Thinkpad that their foster son uses. The laptop recieves no power at all when plugged into the power adapter(No led indicator lights come on). I checked the adapter to make sure it works by plugging it into my cordless drill and it seems to pass along power. I replaced cmos battery because the other was dead. Still nothing! I then completely disassembled the notebook to check the solder connections for the power connector on the motherboard and it seemed solid and the contact pionts meet the male adapter snuggly. I did'nt seem any aparent damage to capasitors or anything else on the board or hardware. Is this motherboard just fried or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday, Mark

Reason I came in here was because my old 600x (500mhz) has the same symptoms, doesn’t seem to be getting any power from a good supply.

This pad has been sleeping for almost two years, and I wanted to give it to my niece.

I did a similar to the above ^^ poster, and still zip. Worked flawlessly right up till around this time 03.
