Any ideas on how to revive my 8890

My 8890 (D800P) screen decided to display a line of dead pixals, so i went and swapped my 16.1" screen for my 15.7" screen in my 8886 (888E), which worked. I swaped the screens round and it switched on, so i switched off again to secure the screen properly. I when switched my 8890 on and it powered up but no picture on the screen. The power lights come on and so do the cd/dvd drives, but the floppy drive doesn't and nor does the hard drive. I swaped the screen back into my 8886 and it works fine, put the original screen back on the 8890 and still no differance.

Have i killed my 8890, or does any one have any ideas before i contact clevo support (and yes i have no warranty) for an expensive bill!

check you have reconnected everything dude.
If you still can't see anything on the LCD try connecting an external monitor to the DVI port.
They are pretty hardy units so I would say it is a connector issue. Make sure you have not kinked any of the cables inside the case.

Update on my D800P

I finally got round to attaching my old screen on to the D800P, and switched on in the hope that it would work, and it did, it works great.

I then fitted all the parts back from my 888E on to the D800P, and started to load windows back up. It worked, then as i left the room windows crashed on me and i had to restart, no problem, except that it stoped half way throught the bios startup, so i restarted and it started didn't start. It has now died again! Looks as if im going to have to fork out £470 for a new motherboard!

Question, Does this mean that the 8890 will not boot headless??

it should boot headless as long as everything else is working ok

My laptop now stops booting up during bios boot up, and after x amount of time switches off. I doesn't even get to spining the hard drive up, or far enough to re-flash the laptop! I will be sending to the UK's service center i a month or two to find out the problem (hopefully cheep).

Got it fixed.
Sent it to Laptopsolutions and they replaced one of the sticks of memory and did some work on the board.
I have also replaced the keyboard to a UK spec and added Bluetooth.

Its so nice not to use the desktop or wifes laptop
