memory running at 266 only?

Thread Starter
Hello everybody. I have a i9300 running bios A04 with default memory in it (2 x 256mb pc 4300) When I run cpu-z it says in the max bandwidth box under the SPD tab: pc 4300 (266 MHz) Isn't this suppose to say 533? Also under the memory tab, it says the frequency is 266...is this how it is suppose to be? is there anyway to fix it? Thanks

266 x 2 = 533 Mhz (or close enough) - Remember DDR stands for double data rate...

EDIT: So in other words it is being displayed correctly...

K9387 is right, if it was running at DDR266 then your bandwidth would be PC2100, not PC4300.

To calculate RAM Speed, take clock speed * 2

I.E. DDR 3200=200*2=400
DDR 4300=266*2=533
DDR 2700=166*2=333

etc.

Video cards operate the same way.

As long as it is DDR RAM (or some variant) in question...

I thought with the Pentium processors it'd be a 4x multiplier? IE. 133x4 = 533 as well. Since the Pentiums perform 4 operations per clock cycle. Maybe i'm confusing myself lol.

The DDR2 core frequency for 533Mhz DDR is 133Mhz, it is DDR so this means the bus frequency is 266Mhz. 4 bits are sent per clock cycle (2 on the up, 2 on the down) which gives a data rate of 533 Mbps...

Data rate is actually 4.3Gb/s. That's what their naming convention is. 3200=3.2Gb/s, 3500=3.5Gb/s, etc.

"Effective Clock Speed" is 533Mhz.

(133x4 (4 bits sent each cycle)=533Mhz.

Bus frequency is 133, as that's what the core is.

DDR1 is just 2 bits per clock cycle, so that's why 200*2=400

while DDR2 is 4 bits per clock cycle, so that's why it's 133*4=533.

Plus, Intel quad pumps their FSB for their chips or some such nonsense,.
