Finally Ordered an Area-51m7700

Greetings to everyone here!
I finally decided to bite the bullet and get the Area-51m7700 from alienware. I have heard tremendous things about their computers over the past few years. I really need a laptop that can somewhat replace my desktop. I am moving to Japan for atleast 1 year, and I just cannot ship my rig, for I fear some lazy ass airport caddy, or $5 an hour bell hop will have their way with it. Everything in it is also watercooled, so that might be a problem as well. Not to mention the space limitations in Japan etc... blah blah blah... you get the picture. I need a kickass laptop that can come close to my desktop. (see my desktop at slizone : KittyPlaysFPS - I recently broke the 14,000 barrier on 3Dmark05)
So I turned to Alienware... it seemed to be my only real option.
I have heard people talk about alternatives like Seager and others, but honestly. Even though they may be the "same" in performance, who wants an ugly looking bootleg laptop. The aw laptops look really sleek and professional. Not like some guy just made it in his garage one day for kicks.
Well, the estimated ship date is around Dec 16th. It will be nice if it gets here in time for x-mas. I am in GA which isn't too far from their FL base so maybe the Fed-Ex gods will bless me.

Review of m7700 with 7800gtx go

hiya,
I might just be blind, but I haven't seen many reviews on the new configurations of the m7700 with the 7800gtx card.
I have read reviews on the card itself, in various other configurations and it seems to be really impressive. They say it is on par with the desktop 7800gtx.
I hope so. Well, after talking to the people at aw, they do need serious help with their customer service, I should be receiving it around the 19th of December. I was going to do the AMD, since my desktop is, but there is no way I can wait until Feburary......
Once I recieve it I will do an extensive review, with pics video and anything else I can manage to throw at it. I believe I have plenty of space on my school's server

I put the specs of the system in my sig, if you were curious. I will eventually add in my desktop specs too.... but that will have to be later~

Wow.....I am truly amazed .....

After some minor setbacks that had be convinced that AW's customer service was crappy, they have taken a 360 degree turn and totally caught me off guard.
As I stated above, I just ordered my laptop on Monday.
I saw all the phases that it had to go through. I have read through the forums quite a bit, and anticipated a prolonged phase count down like the others did. But on Tuesday morning I woke up and checked on my status. It said my item was in production (phase five i believe).
I thought, well it will take a long time cause of holidays and all.... this was still a surprise though because it said before that parts had to be ordered, namely the screen and the 7800gtx go.
Ok.... well today I checked on it again to see where it is in the assembly line, and the thing is freaking being packed up to ship!!!!
Have I just gotten reallllly lucky? Or has AW really gotten with it.
What do you think? I haven't ever dealt with AW, and I kind of had forgotten about them since before I didn't have a chance of getting one. But I always heard from others in the past (this goes back maybe 4 years ago) that AW was the ultimate in gaming performance.
well anyway... As soon as I get it expect a complete thourough review with pics vids and everything else you would expect. I know I had to guestimate and take a chance when it came down to the final decision without really knowing too much about the laptop.... I want to provide a guide that will really let people know what they are getting

Should be here tomorrow.....

Well, it shipped and Fed-ex says it will be here tomorrow, good thing I will be home all day tomorrow.
My specs are in my sig. I almost got top of the line. I got the 3.4 P4 because $200 more for the same chip (fsb and cache wise) only a bit faster isn't worth it. Afterall, it is already a desktop chip, its going to be fast. I originally wanted the amd version, but the setup I wanted couldn't be shipped (according to them) until the end of feb beginning of march and I need it before then.
I got the upgraded screen with the crazy resolution + cam and a 7800 gtx go card. I also got 2G of ram, cause well... why not. I think it was only $90 more for the second gig so ...
Um, I got the two dvd burner .... yes I often like to burn 2 at once
also the 2 Hard drives 7200rpm sata 2X 80G in RAID 0 . --this will be my first RAID, and I am anxious to see if there is any difference that's noticable.
The price for everything (look at my sig for the whole detail thing) was $3500 I believe. I have to send off some rebates but that is no big deal.

--------------------------
When I get it tomorrow, I will do a whole review of it inside and out so people like you (and me a couple days ago) will be able to exactly see what they are paying for. Yes they are expensive... but I think it is going to be worth it.
my last laptop left me still wanting, it was a vaio s460 or something, with a 128mb ati card in it.

Well, Ill be back here tomorrow~ hopefully with aw in hand.
