Oh no, or My GF got an HP.

Its true, even after my constantly "drilling" her about how great Sagers are and my ****ty experiences with Dell, Compaq, Gateway, and other companies.

She plopped down and bought a widescreen notebook from HP. She didn't give me the model, but I believe she got the zt3000. I'll find out for sure tomorrow, when I give her a call. (If I can, the ring of power is calling me....)

Any thoughts on the HP series? Haven't read too much about them.

Some of the new HP's look ok - but I have read some forum posts that suggest the build quality is not great - and since HP just outsourced all their support just like Dell did - you can expect a support call to be a mixture of english lesson/tech call.

I actually heard that Dell recently pulled its Tech Support back to the states....

Anyways, I'm going to remain a bit subjective about it. I'll encourage her to write up a review of it and post some pictures of it when she gets it though.

Ciro-

I really like the z300 series. I gave alot of thought about buying it until I saw my gateway. Unless she's doing hardcore gaming, it should be fine for her. Widescreen, great for watching the lord of the rings , centrino, great for watching the lord of the rings when not plugged into an outlet, and a decent video card for non-graphic-powe-hungry-games. And they are so damn cute.
And cheap, which is always good. I'd think it should be good for her.

I purchased a zd7000 (one of the 17"ers) last week, so I'm waiting for it to get here. The main reason I bought it was because I got some nasty discounts (it came to over $2 grand, but through discounts I'm only paying 1,700). I'm a little nervous about getting the HP, but I have seen a zd7000 before and they are nice. I'll do a full review when I get it.

PS-It might be going back though. I really like Sager's 4780. Who knows.

Specs (for thoes who care)

Dell pulled its corporate support back to the states (and only some of it at that) The general public are still supported from India and therefore still hosed.

Typical....

I was hoping they saw the light.

Christ, I was on the phone today with the Y about my Childcare Certifications. Couldn't understand a damn thing the woman said, very heavy Indian accent, talk about frustrating.

I'm confused as to what happened to everyone that could speak English in America....
