8790 Power Supply

Anyone else have problems with the power supply? The plastic wire covering that comes out of the power supply (the side of the brick that leads to the computer - not the electrical outlet) has slowly but surely slid away from the brick, exposing wire. The power supply was still functional but died soon after. If I plug the supply into an outlet, i now hear this crackling sound...like the sound sparks make. I know that's bad...

So I have to send in my 8790 to Warrantech to repair some memory so I mentioned this issue to them. They say that if wire is exposed, it won't be covered. So now I have to buy a $100 power supply because Sager's is a piece of crap? I guess this happened over time from winding the chords around the brick to throw in my carrying case, but how can this be my fault? Is there a way to carry around a power supply that I don't know of? I'm hoping someone can enlighten me, and help me figure out how to get this power supply replaced without having to pay for it.

Thanks,

Chip

ps. I know 2 other people with the 8790 and they both have power supplies wrapped in electrical and masking tape. Pretty funny.

Although you're out of warranty, you might want to contact Sager (or PCT/Discount if you bought from them) and ask to see if there are any other options since it's a safety issue.
