Bah, Quake, FEAR...they're all too similar. I just went back in time to Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II- now that's a single player experience.
I was excited about STALKER two years ago, but they sat on it too long so now I don't care. They may as well upgrade it to Directx 10, since it's graphics aren't up to todays HDR standard and they keep pushing off the release date.
Quake 4's single player is very well done, and I really like single player games.
As for STALKER, or any game for that matter, it's all about gameplay... graphics are a distant second. Nice looking games are, well, nice looking, but a game like the original Ghost Recon that looks like paste compared to today's games still kicks ass in playability. STALKER will be good no matter when it ships as long as the gameplay is as good as they say.
