I Hope Your Not Getting This??
9750 X2 Cpu/Power problems
I recieved my new 9750-C unit last week, and so far it is a very good machine, but I have been having a strange issue with it, and was wondering if anyone else is having similar problems or if I just happen to have a "lemon".
First of all the system sometimes can take a few minutes to "post"...What happens is, I will turn on the system, and it will act like it's trying to post, but keeps rebooting before it ever gets to a post screen.....then within 1-5 minutes later it will post.......However, sometimes it posts fine (within seconds of turning it on)
Second problem.....when i get into windows, it says i'm running in "battery mode" when in fact i have the ac adapter plugged in.....and the machine led's even indicate that i am running on AC power....I know there is nothing wrong with the AC adapter because i have 2 others I tried with the same result. TO make things even stranger, when if i go to unplug the ac adapter and then plug it in again, windows will say it is in "plugged in" mode for about a minute then fall back to saying it's running on battery mode.....
Third problem....I noticed when running games and benchmarks everything was coming out slower than it should....so I ran both Mobilemeter and CPU-Z to check on things........Sure enough my CPU is running at HALF SPEED.....I have an AMD 3800 X2 Cpu, and it is running at 1000mhz instead of 2000mhz....plus the multiplier is set at 5X instead of 10X and voltage is only 1.1 and should be around 1.3..(this is according to CPU-Z). In windows power management im set on "always on" or performance.....no matter what i set power management settings to in windows this doesnt change....I even tried it without the AMD cool'n'quiet driver loaded....no change..........
The only way i was able to force the system to run at the correct speed was by using a utility called "systool"http://www.techpowerup.com/systool/
You can all see from my screen shots of CPU-Z what i'm talking about
I have two theories......either there is a bios glitch/incompatabiliy with the AMD 3800 X2 Cpu, where the bios isnt telling the motherboard to supply the right amount of voltage, etc...to the cpu...or there is something wrong with the power supply inside my unit where it isn't supplying the correct amount of power to the entire system.....
If there is anyone out there that is having the same or similar issues please let me know....you can go a goole for "CPU-Z" and "mobilemeter" programs if you want to run it on your 9750's...Thanks!
