Area 51m 7700 Download Area - Page 8

Man, is there anyone left in this forum who's still using the original 6800 go with DDR2 memory in their 7700's or am I the only one? Has everyone upgraded to the DDR3 card? Sure looks like it from everyone's sigs. Damn, I WISH I had the DDR3 one; anyone know offhand how much the upgrade costs? I couldn't find out on the AW site. All I found out is that my particular 7700 model would need to be sent in to upgrade the graphics 'cause I don't already have that special metal heatsink cover installed that the 6800 go DDR3 or X800 need What a hassle; it'll probably take months to get my machine back

Anyway, who has a price for the upgrade?
I didn't have to upgrade, I ordered it with the system.

keisur:
hate to be a total newb on this, i've oc'd processors before, but never tooled with my video cards. however, keisur, i've got a question for you now...when i use j.clausse's drivers, and i go to the advaced display properties, there is a heading for "clock frequency settings" and under that you can select "manual overclocking" and futhermore you can have the software "detect optimal frequencies" is this not actually overclocking the card?

if not, my bad, i'll try to be more careful on that in the future.

Pedrobiznuntch:
i have the 6800go with dd2 as well, and i agree, the ddr3 one looks REALLY nice in comparison. contact alienware and ask them if they will allow you to install the heat plate yourself, maybe even with the assistance of tech over the phone. i contacted cs and asked, and told them that i'm ok with voiding my warrenty because it's basically useless to me anyway. their response made it seem like they were shipping one to my place in canada, and so it should be waiting there for me when i get back... sadly, i don't have prices.

I tried auto detect overclock here and it's working fine.

Which driver are u compared with mine ?

How do u perform a cpu test since the driver only acts on 3D settings and not on cpu settings ?
Auto detect works fine, but that just sets it to the default 3D settings that games and benchy's use, 330/1000. Selecting "manual" and then automatically detecting isn't "manually" selecting the clocks. OC'ing is values greater than the auto detect values, such as 380/1000 or 400/1000. again, 330/1000 is not OC'd, it's the default 3D clocks.

j.clausse, 3DMark05 has a CPU value in there too, look under "Main Test Results" on my links.
The driver in the squiggly brackets dubbed "old scores" are from the first "AlienForce" driver I installed.

OK, thx for the tests, i'll work with those infos for improving the driver.

I just tried the overclock here, i set it to manual and use 3D.

My default settings was 330 / 600 and i did the auto-detect and get 349 / 1.03 run a games and working, and re-check, the settings was keep.

I don't really understand the probs u encounter, can u maybe take screenshots for me ?
1st pic: default 3D settings - these are the clocks used automatically when running 3D apps

2nd pic: Autodetected clocks, somewhat overclocked but being they are automatically detected, they aren't manually set OC values

3rd pic: Attempted manual OC to 331/1000 but failed

4th pic: Attempted manual OC to 370/1000 but failed

so I can't OC with your driver installed. Later I may try uninstalling and reinstalling your driver to see if it was a bad install.

here ya go

Try using RIVATUNER, i've found it better to use when OCing
post #149 of 481
I've tried that too.
it doesn't work either? thats weird
Yep, even with RivaTuner: 337/1000 is as high as I could get it.

OK, I figured it out, it's the temps in the room and the resulting gpu temp. the higher the temps the less you can OC the GPU clocks. so I got the A/C set pretty cool now and I can get higher OC values to pass the test.
I was able to OC with your drivers now, still the cpu score is low:

j.clausse OC'd (382/1002) 4572/3913

Bizzare, it's working here.

Is it working with another driver ?
yeah. it's working with the XG ones. I haven't tried any of the other modded varieties though.

OK, i'll work on cpu score from now and will try to see if i can improve 3d score too.

Thx for the tests.

Sager release three new updates yesterday for the 9860.

BIOS 1.00.04

Synaptics Touchpad 7.13.2.0

RealTek Audio 5.10.0.5037

Don't know why the Audio and Touchpad drivers seem to be older than the ones we have here.
Any hero to try the new BIOS?
Well, I just check AW's FTP site, they got the BIOS too.
last I looked they had only the .03 BIOS on the AW site, and that was about an hour ago.

- or -

Are you talking about their FTP site?
