I want to update my BIOS driver so I called the AW support for assistance because I dont want to void my warranty as I am not an expert on computers. The thing is the person I spoke with dont want to help me because she said my computer is working fine. I told her that I just want the latest drivers in my rig but she said that she couldn't help me with that. Grrr! I am thinking that if there's an update, there should have some fixes in it right? Well, she just insisted that she recommend not updating my BIOS driver. She really sounded like finding a way not to help me with it. Sucks!

Anyway, can anyone tell me the proper procedure in BIOS driver upgrades?

I know their policy is that update ur bios only if u have problem with the existing.
FYI, 1.00.04 has added switch for the touchpad and fixed some bugs. At least the touch pad control should be strong enough to kill all the reason they have to not assist you, because the touch pad is annoying when you are typing.

I agree Grant. I never thought of the touchpad because I have never used it ever since I got my rig. I just want the latest drivers.

1.00.03 has the F10 switch also.

Yeah, I know, but 03 is buggy, at least for me.
As soon as I put 03 in, the keyboard kept ignoring me until I slap the entire keyboard just like an azz with my palms multiple times.
No more hassle now.

it was for me too. I flashed 04 last night and it's been running great since. I didn't have the keyboard slapping problem you did though.

Alright guys, enough with the slaping, Can someone tell me the procedures on how to update it? I just want to make sure I dont screw up.

it's soooo ez........ you will feel so when you are doing it.
1. Download the BIOS. It's an ISO file, so use Nero etc to burn it as an image to a CD.
2. Restart with the CD in.
3. Press F2 when you see the Alien logo so that you can get into the BIOS config screen.
4. Press Left Arrow twice so that you can switch the screen to the Boot priority menu.
5. Use + and - to move the optical drive to the top of the list.
6. Press F10 and Enter to save, exit and restart the beast.
7. The beast will automatically boot into a DOS environment and it will tell you to type "runme" (w/o the quotation marks) in order run the bad thing. So type "runme" and enter.
8. Wait until it tells you to Press any key to restart the beast or Turn your beast off and restart.
9. Just be safe, wait for 10 seconds to make sure the data is secured in the BIOS.
10. Press and hold the power switch to kill your beast and then power up again.

Done!
Remember to post aftert that so we know you are alive.

Were they telling you that you'll void your warranty flashing the BIOS without them on the phone? Or without their approval?
There's also a .pdf in the zip file that walks you through making the cd and updating the bios. maybe print it out and follow it to the "T."

yes, it voids your waranty if you do it without telling them or without them telling you to do it. He sounds like he talked to the same clueless "ho" I always get at AW on the phone. She's a ditz and no a very nice person either. She gives off the feeling that you are bothering her in the middle of her break or something.

sounds like Adrianna

guess I'll just ring em to do it...

I think her name was Shaneederasskicked but I could have just misunderstood her when she told me her name.

hahahahah! I always ask two or three times and write it down along with their extension and ask for an email when conversation is over. )

Aright guys, I did it! Yeah, keisur, I didn't know it came with the instructions but I found it and read it before proceeding. And fortunately I'm back here in the forums without any problems. As far as I can remember, I think her name was Melissa.

Anyway, I restarted my system but upon start up, it still says BIOS Version 1.00.1.35....

I followed exactly what Grant and the instruction said.

What's wrong???
