Area 51m 7700 Download Area - Page 24

pants, i asked the other day & then rang ts in aust. They gave me the thread as the laptop drivers are not the same as ordinary drivers. Its 3d guru, then you scroll down till you get nvidia drivers mobile in brackets. But the latest drivers are only for the 7800 so i didnt d/load in case they razzed up. p.s. i tried to load the 81.85 drivers & got the same answer.

xtian, could you gather up a list of the most recent drivers and make a post containing that info. If you can include notes for each driver that would be really helpful to system owners. This driver database is very popular, it really needs a complete update once in a while. Each updated post should stand out like a sore thumb. and Dated. (also include a disclaimer that owners are urged to contact Alienware before updating the Bios to prevent voiding the warranty).

j.clausse, hasnt been in for 5 days. maby he is just geting busy for a while. Hope he comes back to keep this information in line. I'll find out if he wants to pass the torch to another owner. If someone can make the Updated (complete) Driver post, I will edit it into j.clausse's first post so everyone finds the info without any problems.

Thanks xtian.

Hey thanks man! Awesome job on the driver page. Um i got some suggestions though. You're missing the Wireless Netork Adapater Driver, and also some links don't work (NIC). But thanks for taking initiative .

Also, anyone know why every single time I install the ALC 880 HD Codec that I get many Modem Device on HD Audio Bus! And the soundman utiltiy doesn't come up either......any help would be appreciated! I'm still using the drivers from the AW site...Thanks a mil!

I've always wanted to know, is there any reason to use the official AW drivers over the ATI site mobility drivers? The ATI always seem to work well but is there any reason to use one over the other (obviously the ATI ones are the absolute newest because AW takes a long time to update)?

Thank You...but it was Aurora's idea of me to make the list. About the wireless adapter I do not know what cards AW uses because I didn't buy it from them so I do not know which drivers to use.
PS> I'll "fix" the dead links...

I had problems after I installed these most recent nVidea drivers - my mouse would freeze when I was burning something...the mouse would still move (I could see it highlighting menus and options) but the cursor was frozen. Searched the net and found other with the problem after installing these drivers. Rolled them back to 77.77 and no more problems. Just a heads up if anyone is ahving the same problem.

Have you tried the AW 78.70?
not to take up space in this thread, but no, I went straight form the 77.77 (just because, not due to problems) to this newest (problems). I'm fine with the previous 77.77 drivers for now, just letting people know this is a known issue with the newest drivers. (gt 6800 go (not the ultra) maybe others).

I've never had any problems using the ATI site mobility drivers. I haven't played with it too much, but it seems that the utility that comes with the ones on the AW site give you more control over your vid card's speed-stepping (for lack of the correct terminology), but you get the latest drivers from the ATI site, most definitely. The way I see it, who wants to turn their graphics cards down when your on battery anyway...

Also - Xtian - you rule. Thanks for taking up the torch!
