I'll post the new kb driver today.

Little error from me, the getthermal doesn't write infos on an eeprom on the fly, it writes infos into a file or into the registry, but it seems to doesn't save, cause u have to set values each time u restart your computer.

It happens to me too...but the program DOESN'T STOP WORKING. You only need to end the process and restart it if you need to adjust settings. If your trip points are where you want them to be, and all is working well, then you don't need it to be in the system tray.

Yes, I noticed that. no suggestions though since I haven't seen any docs on it, hehe.

Stinkymonkey, I've figured out a half-ass workaround to keep it running. instead of minimizing the window, just hit the "Show Desktop" button on the quick link bar next to the start button, this will put it on the taskbar instead of the notification area by the clock and it will continue to run and you can bring it back up if you want to change anything..

As I have noticed when I looked at the modified date of the keyboard driver, the driver was dated back in 2004.
Did AW spend half yeah just to test its compatibility?

thank you

I cannot express how much i was pleased with the thermal utility
j.Clausse. I would like to thank you very much for helping all of us
including me to have a less noisy laptop!

I could not stand its noise, and regretted i bought it. Till i got this wonderful utility.

jclausse, i noticed that everytime I start my computer the settings of the thermal utility always return to default. Is this normal? I always set the trip point everytime I start-up my lappy. Is there a way to save the settings? Thanks

Run the tool and set your settings and make a copy of the file H8Rec04-00-00-0104.wH8 while the tool is running.

Close the tool and delete the file H8Rec04-00-00-0104.wH8

Then, rename the copy of the file to H8Rec04-00-00-0104.wH8

It fixed the prob for me here and i don't need to set the trip points every time i'm starting up the lappy.

Thanks jclausse! I'll try restarting my lappy and see if it works for me.

Just a reminder for all of you who are using the thermal utility.
I set the critical pt to 40 just for fun. It turned out to be a immediate shut down and never boot up because 40C was a fun temp that the CPU could easily reach. I got no result back from a search on the AW KB for how to clear the CMOS. I decided to unplug the AC, remove the battery and hold the power button to release the electricity may remain on the mobo. After about 10 mins, I plugged the AC back without the battery and everything came back!
I opened the thermal utility and it showed that the trip pts were reset to the default values.
So my advise is not to touch the critical trip point!

love the thermal utility!! i'm still playing around with the trip points for fun, but it seems to be remembering my settings, or close enough to them that i'm satified. awesome job man, your updates are at least 1 year ahead of alienware's...which i find helping from you, and disgusting from them. i have one question to the updaters though, have you been getting the BSOD with the audio update? everytime that i try to update that stupid driver, i get the BSOD. i'm still stuck with the factory driver now... any suggestions?

I get the same thing when updating to the new audio drivers. What it does after i install and restart is find like 30 modems on my computer somehow and then I get a BSOD at every next startup and have to go to safe mode and uninstall that driver.

The only way i have gotten the new driver to update was to go to the device manager and click on update and find the specific file for the new driver myself. But doing it this way probably doesnt allow you to have the full affect of the update.

I updated the audio driver but had no major problems - i.e BSOD. Didn't do anything special either. It did show multiple modems in the device manager, but once I restarted it was fine.

Maybe try uninstalling the existing and then installing the newer version.

Just recently I have noticed that my VGA fan isnt working all the time. Its hard to explain...I noticed it wasnt working and then I restarted and messed with the thermal utility and it started working......a couple hours later its not working again...could this be because of a trip point er somethin? If so wich one is it so I can adjust it.....thanks.......
