did i hear you say u upgraded ur m7700 to 3gb system memory...how I thought i would be limited to 2gb?
can anyone help...upgraded my aurora m7700 athlon fx 60 to vista home prem. most things fine but it will not shut down properly and i suspect it has something to do with an unknown usb device which keeps popping up. Unsure what the device is...maybe the alien head lights on case, but when i disable or search for new driver makes no difference. Can anyone direct me to a comprehensive list of vista drivers on this forum or elsewhere?
There isn't a comprehensive list of Vista drivers for this model as there aren't ANY Vista drivers for this model - I doubt there will be either as both models are no longer actively sold by any vendors.

The realtek drivers work fine with my m7700 and vista ultimate 32 bit.

Hi Guys! I have a big problem...
This is my Alienware Area 51M 7700:

P4 3,2Ghz
2Gb RAM
Video Card Ati Radeon Mobility X800 256 Mb
Hard disk 100 Mb RAID

I don't have the Internal Wi-Fi adapter...

I have a problem because when I start to use the 3D video Card Accelerator for play a 3D texture, or a video games, ecc... after 20 or 30 second my Lap Top is shuting down. I say this is a protection of the system. When the temperature is too high the System is automatic shuting down but i Don't know is ti possible. Why I can use my lap top for make a different kind of Job i can use it for many Hours but when I use Texture 3D for video games or other function the system o down after 20 second???
I have open my notebook for cleaning the fun. I have make a format and I have reinstall all the drivers, the latest version with nothing problem, and i have make an update of the Keyboard bios and the system bios but the problem is survival... Now I have installed Windows Vista Ultimated Edition but I already have this kind of problem with Windows Xp sp2. With Speed Fan I have see the teperature of the System and, When I use my video card at 100% for play a 3d Texture video i can see the temperature, only the core temperature i can see, go up very quickly (from 48 - 49 °c to over 60°c in about five second).
I have read only now for the first time i can use the FN + F2 command for speed up my fan, I want to test this and I hope resolve my problem.
In any case I'm waiting your reply and solution for my problem. Thank guys for all and sorry for my orrible english but I'm an Italian Guy.

I'm here again... I have tested the FN + F2 command and the Fan start at the maximun speed... The Noise level is incredible... I have plugged in the AC power supply adapter and I'm going to make a test of the system in this condition, speed Fan speack me the temperature is about 41 °C , It's cool...I have test the video card and for do this I'm start to use the ATI radeon control center and test the 3D texture rendering quality... It's All OK... Speed Fan speack me the temperature is 41°C and It's stable! After 15 min. the test give me a good answer. I'm going to take down the Fan with FN + F2 and after 5 second Speed Fan speack e the temperature is 56°C and after 30 second the system is shuting down... I have restart the system with the fan at the maximun speed (FN + F12 again) but if I restart the test of the 3d texture the system is shuting down, speed fan speack me after the rebooting the temperature is 41°C... I don't understand what is the problem.... Please guys Help me!!!

Hi!
now i come with my broken English.
What would i do...
I would flash the Bios again.Both..

BIOS v 1.00.06 [17/11/05]
Adds support for the Go 7800 GTX.
KB Controller v 1.00.08 [02/02/06]

If you finished,go to Bios, Load Setup default.
If nothing goes right, open the Keyboard and put out the Battery for the Bios...

Hi Guys... I have a good news for you... I think i have resolve my problem with the temperature of the Lap Top!!!
I have update the bios and i have activated the command FN + F2 but when I'm going to stop the fan, because the noise level is incredibal and my head go to explode, after 20 - 30 second the Lap Top is shuting down because the temperature go up very quickly and the overburning protection start work and shut down the system. The solution of the command FN + F2 is good but is not pratical.
In a second time I'm going to use an active cooler pad and I have see this system work fine and I use my Lap Top with nothing problem because the temperature of the system Is good but this solution is not pratical. I can use this system only if I use my laptop in the same place for many Hours.
I know my Lap Top Alienware AREA 51M 7700 is not in guarantee, I have call the customer service and they speak me this. It'S time to open my Lap Top... IHIHIHIH
I'm going to take apart all the fan and I'm going to clean up all the temperature dissipators, but when I'm going to take apart the dissipator of the video card I have see the video card is protect with a metallic carter and it's not a good condition to take out the hot air... I have broken the Alienware seal and I take apart the carter. I'm going to rebuilding my Lap Top and close all the compartments (RAM, Hard Disk, Video Card, ecc...) but I take apart the cideo card card, I have put only the dissipator.
Now my Alienware Work very fine and i don't have to use the Fan at maximun speed or the Cooler Pad... Finally I have find the good solution. I say you an other observation... Now without the video card carter, If I use the the fan at maximun speed and the Cooler Pad the temperature of my core is 40 °C after one hour of high performance operation. It's Incredible!!! And If I use my lap top withous Fan at Maximun speed or Cooler Pad, and I play World of Warcraft for one hour the maximun temperature of the core is 56°C.
But my Lap top is not in guarantee.... Bye Bye Guys... See you in a next time. I'm sorry for my orrible english.

Can anybody translate this into english? What is a carter supposed to mean?

Maybe try taking some photos to illustrate what you're talking about.

I think Carter is a English word... In any case this is a metallic protection that you can see if you going to desmounting the hot air dissipator of the Video card...

1) Going to open the video card cover
2) Remove the cover and disconnect the fan, now you can see the hot hair dissipator
3) Going to unscrew the lives and remove the dissipator... Now you can see the chip of your video card but the rest o the video card is closed into a metallic protection...
4) Cut the orange seals of guarantee and going to unscrew the lives of the protection... Remove it.
5) Now you can re installing the Dissipator on the chip and re connected the fan. After close the cover and start use your Lap Top...
