Reinstall Sound and Modem drivers for Area 51 m7700

Hi,
Had to reinstall windows the other day after disk cleanup was so efficient it deleted boot files (go figure).
Have XP working properly along with video, touchpad, ethernet, however I cannot get Sound drivers or modem drivers to take.

I have tries both of the audio driver in the Alienware FTP site for the 7700 and the v1.38 drivers you suggest and i always get the same error that could not Match RealtekHD Audio Inf file and that setup could not complete. Then asks me to reboot. After rebooting the driver wont load and cannot uninstall the program due to Catasrophic failure of program not continuing after reboot. Manual setup of the drivers using hardware wizard doesn't work either. Can't think of anything else I can do. So i'm left with dud programs from Realtek that I cannot delete but aren't doing anything, no way to get sound and as a result no Multimedia works and games wont run cause directsound can't initialize.
Waiting for a respons form Alienware Australia, hopefully directing me to another driver. I remeber that it was Realtek and dont tell me to use the driver disk cause its on one side of the country and I'm on the other for work for the next 6 weeks.

Also the modem problem. The modem driver installs, but doesn't put it in the modem list and manually setting the modem up doesnt list the modem, only the generic drivers which don't work.

If anyone has any ideas please help.

The system was bough Sep last year and the motherboard replaced in Feb after it burnt out (the supposed dud batch of mobo's!!!)

i have a alienware notebook area m5500...will the video drivers on the first page work with my Nvidia GeForce 6600Go

Anyone notice and problems/issues/major improvements w/ the new m7700 nVidia driver update 6/16/06? Just curious...gonna download it now, but always interested in problems that may arise.

POSTER EDIT: I personally noticed a huge different with the driver in lag experienced in both Oblivion and Glory of the Roman Empire...so SOMETHING must have been greatly improved! I'm able to play the GotRE demo with Ultra settings on a 1920x1200 reso with NO lag at all... BTW I have the 256MG Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 GTX... END EDIT

the cleavo ones the really did a number buggering up my system. very ustable.

Im trying the official ones now to see if there's any improvement
