'bruses' appearing on my 5680 screen

I've got three spots on my screen that appeared over the last couple weeks. They show up as brown/grey areas when they coinside with a white area on my screen. They kinda look like bruses.

At first I wasn't really conserned, I thought maybe they were normal because I carry the computer around with me alot. But they keep growing and more are strating to appear. They dont coinside with any places where extra pressure might be put on the screen when its in my bag, their locations seem almost random.

They dont bother me enough that I would want to loose my computer for any ammount of time to get them fixed, but I was wondering if this is normal and if anyone else has this happen.

Ouch, i would call where you bought it from and ask whats up. If they tell you to send it in, then I would wait till you can get some other opinions here, and if we cant offer anything except to send it in, it might be your only choice.

Yeah, its not something 'on' the screen. I did tried cleaning it off when I first saw it a few weeks ago.

I've been wondering if maybe one of the antennes or something might be loose behind the screen and is putting pressure on it in those locations.

I've been thinking about undoing those screws and taking a peek behind the screen, but I dont know if that would void my warrenty. Not that warrenties mean anything to me.

Mirwolf:
The second picture doesn't look like anything to serious to me.

The first (the one with the line looking "bruise" on your LCD) looks like some sort of damage to the LCD itself prehaps. Of course, I'm firing blind here. I'd advise BOTH of you to call Sager tech support and leave a voice mail describing your problem with the LCD and see what they have to say. Really your best bet.

If you guys are carrying your notebooks in a backpack, then that could be the proble. I notice marks on my screen from the keyboard when I overload my book bag or cinch too tight.

Dude I have one of the same things on my screen! Not sure how the hell it got there either. Its right in the middle just off to the left and it IS annoying. I have tried every cleaner known to man on it, and after using a magnifying glass I can confirm it is a bruise UNDER the top layers of the panel.

I know of no way to fix it. I have rubbed it for the past week and it has changed shape a bit, but I am scared to rub it much more. As for this occuring when I place things on it, I have never set anything heavier than the power brick on it. Seeing as how I can not push on the back and cause the liquid to move (like on MANY other types of laptops, I don't see how that could be causing the bruises to appear. Anyone else have ideas?

Edit - BTW Mirwolf what screen do you have? Is it the UXGA 5680 screen?

I have the same problem..right now the "bruises" are very small..but they were non-existent before..

I too have the same problem.. I've got one of the bruises right in the middle of my screen. I've got the UXGA.

OK so is this an inherant problem with this screen? I think it deplorable if there is something we might be doing to exacerbate the problem and it isn't explained to us in the manual!? Even this little bruise is causing me grief heh, as its right in the middle of the screen and just off to the left (usually where I have word documents open). The funny thing is its only viewable when viewed more or less head on. Other people looking at the screen cannot see it.

Now I have decided I can live with this one little spot. If more appear though, I fear I'll have to have my screen replaced when I RMA this sucker for the staticy sound problem I've mentioned before. In the end it just costs me time, and PCTorque time AND money . If this spot is my fault fine, but... I cannot think of anything I have done to get it. Looking at pictures I took of my laptop the day I opened it I can confirm it was not there. I have a massively padded bag I use to tote this thing around school with to, where nothing places pressure on the lid. So I dunno. Adam do you have any ideas? The techs told me to RMA it when I called but couldn't elaborate.

I also have this same problem... two large bruises in the middle. I carry my top around in a targus backpack. If you rma, is it possible to have them send you a new screen?
I don't necessarily want a new screen...I just don't want more to appear...sigh.

So is there any new info on this topic? It would be cool if someone was able to repair one of their spots. Mine is still here looking at me hehe. Just wish I knew what caused the darn thing in the first place. I'm sure nothing has touched the screen, and nothing heavier than the power brick has been set on top.

Same here. And I don't want more bruises to appear..I only have a one year warranty..

One funny thing is the bruise is not at ALL visible from an angle. Like if I go a bit above, or below, it disappears entirely. Are yours also like that? I have tried cleaning my screen again and am positive its not something on the screen itself. Its like something is pushing it from behind.

I would also like to find a fix for this, its quite annoying... the only flaw on my laptop.

"Out Damned Spot!"

Ok well here's a good question to aks people.. Does this problem appear on other brands of laptops with other screens? I work as a computer technician in a small repair place, and previously worked on a university's technical support crew. Never have I seen a problem quite like this on a laptop... I have seen smudges, scratches, dents, deformities, and all sorts of messed up things.... but nothing to compare with these odd bruises. Just want to know if this is a problem with these new UXGA screens... or what.

The discouraging thing is that problems with these LCDs seem to be acceptable to the industry. Like Sager Tech Support said to me "Backlightning issues are a very common problem with these types of screens. Its normal especially around the corners for true black to NOT be displayed. Sorry about that but it has to do with the manufacturing techniques not being perfect yet."

The other issue of dead pixels also being a manufacturing defect leads me to believe the industry is just pushing too hard, and quality control went out the window a long time ago. Damn when cars have problems like these they have a recall and still suffer lawsuits up the ass. Man I'm just too upset because we need a place to punish with extreme prejudice these lazy ass manufacturers!!!

I have 2 very small bruises right now, and yes they do almost disappear when I look from an angle.
