What a blast from the past. My friend bout one of their desktop's in 1993. They were sold by Sears back then. Packard Bell had the reputation for being the cheapest(as in trash), worst performing machines you could buy. I tried to help my friend upgrade several times, each time having to fight through riser cards only to find the component integraded onto the mobo.

Here's the wiki entry:

They may make decent products now. I just bought a compaq laptop for my parents, something I would have never dreamed of 5 years ago.

i was still pretty young when i smoked it. looking back, i think the harddrive had just died. i had thought it was a problem with the connection and then connected a couple of the wires coming from the PSU together. i hid behind the bed, got a broom stick, hit the power button and the thing just started smoking and then the psu had a little explosion.

Edit: OMG, i still have the 166mhz(or 133mhz?) pentium 1 mmx with me. i took it out before i trashed the computer. its purdy. mine had a 2gb hdd though and windows 95.
