What I have been waiting for....Ok, I've been lurking for a long time, but this is the system I have been waiting for. A true desktop replacement, something that has real video. Granted it doesn't look like upgradeable video - from what you can see in the pictures Adam provided (have to see under that cover ). Don't get me wrong, I almost nabbed one with 9600 video, but then heard about this coming out soon. Gaming and work and portable - can't beat that. (I don't need light weight or huge batter life...although it would be nice)
Now here is what I am seeing, correct me if I am wrong...
TV Tuner connection - In back next to Parallel port. Nice... Anyone know the maker? Or what SW it comes with? Linux compatability?
Parallel Port & Serial Port...Ok enough with the legacy stuff. Give me More USB or Firewire ports. You can always buy a USB adapter for this stuff. Granted I use serial to connect to switches and stuff, but I have a USB serial adapter now... And if you still have a parallel port printer, you are too cheap to spring for this anyhow.
Digital out, no analog (unless this is still totally pre production). Will it ship with an adaptor? LCD still doesn't compare to CRT for certain applications.
Firewire, only one connector on the front?
USB, 2 in back and one between the 7-in-1 and Optical drive.
IR port in front... Anyone know if it is just for the tuner or will it work with other things?
Camera - center top of screen right?
Memory....am I inferring correctly - this is regular desktop memory? Any chance we can we see the memory cover off?
Speaking of Slots - what is the slot for under the hard drive on the right?
Ok, so I don't think this thing is perfectly laid out... I'd have put any connectors on the sides or back if possible - who wants external speaker cables or a hard drive dangling off the front? Headphones...sure that's not too inconvenient (cd/dvd can open out the front - annoying maybe but not constantly in the way) but I am ready to order...and how can you argue with finally having a number pad on a laptop? (I know it's not the first, but 17" 16:9 has some advantages...)
So when do we get the PC Torque price tag?
