It seems that the eurocom site has moved the release date of 8790 from Jan 14th to Feb. Whats up with that? Not that anyone in their sane mind will buy from them. Just wondering about the people who placed their orders with them. Jumping the gun, I might say.

I'd say that Eurocom is always "first to announce", "first to reschedule/shift" and "first to reprice" from my casual observations over the last year or so. No suprise here..

Go-l.com, whatever, updated their site too. Specs are cool to look at and so are the prices (so many digits). They are saying Jan. 12, for their release, which coincides with Eurocom's old release date and Adam's Jan. 2004 estimate. Well, my guess Eurocom delayed until Feb. becuase that is when Prescott comes out. Who knows...or really cares about Eurocom. So that is two Clevo resellers. Three if you count Adam's effort for Sager.

Well, Adam will let us know soon probably. I'm not all that anxious yet anyway just becuase I want a Prescott in mine (my room is cold), but of course, it is fun just to configure. Later all.

I might have my first sample in NZ sometime late Jan, early Feb. For you Americans, I'd guess that Jan 12 is still a reasonable estimate

It's impossible we'll see it this month. Hell, there's been no comments abouth the M11 mobile in any online magazine (Anandtechm, HardOp, etc). The M10 had been widely announced throughout the whole net, but the M11 remains most secret/unknown.

Any idea why no one apart from Sager speaks about the M11?

Maybe the 8790 and the M11 are really alien technology... and THATS why we dont know too much about it!

Will this machine have the NP4080 "Super Clear Glossy Display" as advertised on sagernotbook.com homepage?

The 4080 has a 15" screen. I thought the new config had a 17" W/S.
Yeah the new config does have the 17" - Im just wondering if they will treat the screen the same as the 4080 - just... bigger!

i actually just had an opertunity to check out another brand notebook with a glossy screen.....man, it was sweet..not to frendly to fingerprints, but very sweet looking. if they could make a 17" wide screen glossy, it would be stunning.

With WUXGA.

Actually if you look closer, you can see that the CPU in the ad for the 8790 is the intel 3.2 EXTREME EDITION which tacks on an additional $600 to the price tag. So the price of this is $2600 and I'm assuming we can probably expect pc torque to have it in the $2500 range or less for the non-EE version.

yea true...and also the ram is 1 gb, i would go for 512 mb....and hey tht just fits my budget for a new laptop!
hey did anyone notice, tht the go-l site has an option for the 17" wuxga screen too!
But the problem with getting 512mb ram is that this is a dual channel memory system which means that u cannot (or don't want for that matter) to get just one 512mb, you'll have to go with 2 256mb chips to enable dual channel support which sucks because if you want to upgrade to 1024mb later, you'll have to purchase two new memory modules... something to keep in mind. I want some bloddy info on this machine, I find it hard to believe that there is so little information on a machine that's to be released in 9 days. Sager MUST have these in stock if that's the planned roll out date... lets all bombard them with calls until they get their stupid webmaster to update the site.

I called go-l a couple weeks ago and it seems to be a funny little operation run by a couple of college guys. The guy who answered the phone seemed like he was in shock that someone actually called them, and everytime I asked him a technical question he would ask me to hold while he asks his tech support department and he would just put down the phone and run to the back (of his dorm) and ask his buddy about my questions (I could hear the entire thing, it was hilarious). Some other guy on this forum ordered a system and they delayed his shipment because of the (now get this) FLU. Somehow the flu crippled their shipping department (aka his technical support department aka Bob). Gotta hand it to them though, they have a real nice website (which seems to be a slight ripoff of Apple's design), they're the kind of guys that can sell snow in the middle of Antarctica by packaging it in shiny plastic (ooooh shinnnny plaaastic).

Anyone trying to judge the cooling capicity of these from a couple of pictures is doing nothing but speculating and everyone knows what I think of that. The system I game on gets very warm to the touch on the left hand side of the palm rest right where the card reader is which is the black box you see in the 4780 pic. It doesn't hurt anything AT ALL other than annoys some people that it doesn't stay cool to the touch. This is something ALL high end laptop brands have to deal with to some degree... some more than this, some less. I personally would prefer it feel cooler to the touch, but to cram so much into a thin laptop with all these options, it's jsut the way it is.

Sager surely knows it gets warm to the touch also and I'm sure took it into consideration with the 8790 so all we can do is sit tight and don't judge it until it actually comes out in final spec and build.

You'll notice the majority of people posting about the 4780 being hot are people that don't even own one. If it got too hot or had any issues I sure as heck wouldn't be gaming on it. The last thing I need is to be Overt PVP in SWG and get slain by a bounty hunter because my system died on me from heat. The 4780 games bettter than my desktop with the 9800PRO in it. The only thing I had to modify was I pulled the caps lock key cover off because I kept hitting it by accident with tab. When you send your pets in to attack Sony made the commands case sensitive, but they always show it capital when you type it. Your pets won't be listening and you have no idea why till you look up and see the caps light on.

LOL. Adam I also went Imperial in SWG. I had to. I love that I can get storm troopers and atst's. I am also not going overt b/c I keep dying from inexperience with the game. Right now i have Marksman 2/2/4/3 and Scout 2/0/3/0 and Artisan 0/0/0/0 and medic 0/0/0/0 and brawler 2/1/0/0. I love this game.

When I called Sager's toll free number today with questions regarding the the Max PC advertisement, I was told that they probably would not be available until February. The rep could be out of the loop, but that is what he said. So I would not be surprised if we hear nothing for the next 9 days. Adam also said that if everything went right, it would be available for ordering in January. I don't believe PCTorque or Adam ever said anything about the middle on jan (I think that was Eurocom). Sager could easily release the ordering info the last day of the January for February order placements and they would still be true to their original estimated date.
