It seems like a great game, it's pretty freaky. I first tried it like at 2AM, and my mom had the speakers plugged in at a very high volume, not the headphones.. whew.. I'll just leave it at that.

I liked it though.

It will run on most cpu's i have heard.

the laptop is talking a while to come out, even though im in no rush to buy it just yet.

3ghz presscott delayed till april, and not even going to be socket 478?

so says digitimes......

From the above article:

"Intel’s desktop-use 3GHz Prescott will be available in a 775-pin package, not the 478-pin package of the 2.8GHz Prescott which the company launched in early February."

Doh! So much for a 3ghz prescott in the current design 8790. I really hope this doesn't mean yet another redesign of the 8790 by Clevo.

No, cause that is why the 8790 was originally delayed. See very bottom of:

But that appears to be referring to the delay caused by the core modifications Intel made, I saw no mention there of a change in socket design. A socket change would appear to be a biggies, as Clevo will have to offer two different system boards, one with socket 478, and one with socket 775, assuming they are planning to offer both Northwoods (such as the P4EE Sager had advertised) and Prescotts. On top of that, I can't imagaine that a 775 pin processor won't take up more space, use more juice, and get hotter (this seems to be the trend in going from Northwood to Prescott).

This Prescott BS is really bothering me now. Why don't they just throw in an AMD 64 3200+ and get it over so we can all enjoy this sweet laptop. Honestly, who's going to get Prescott at 3.2 or 3.4 anyway since they are slower than their P4 counterpart? Until Prescott gets to 4.0+, there really isn't a point IMO. Anyway, bring out AMD64, I think they have less heat and longer battery life as well.

yes

BTW, there is no "pro" version of the ATi 9700
post #549 of 727
Anything with 128 or more RAM and clocked higher than 350Mhz is a PRO - Thats straight from ATi...So this is the PRO...

The ATi Radeon 9600 in the Fujitsu N5010 is only 64MB and therefore not the PRO <Just an example>
post #550 of 727
oh sweet wonder why dell didn't use the 256 version in their xps
post #551 of 727
Because there is a chance that the 256MB RAM may not be the fastest or best quality available...

Link please, can't find that.

Dell calls their M11 a 9700 Pro.......
But they are the only ones using the name "pro" with the 9700....

No--they just call it the mobility radeon 9700.

From the Dell site...XPS Display specs

I don't see it being called a "Pro" there. If you have reference where they call it "Pro", please link it.

As far as anything with 128 MB or higher RAM and 350 Mhz or higher clock being called "Pro", that was probably only in reference to the 9600 (still can't find the link). I doubt it pertained to the 9700. We probably will see a 9700 Pro eventually.

In the specs for the Sager 8790, the 256 MB ATi 9700 is not called "Pro".
No Link - Adam posted some emails he had from someone at ATi to confirm the confusion between PRO and NON-PRO versions of the mobile cards...and this is what they said...

cheers!
No GSFerrari, that was regarding the 9600 series, not he 9700. Anyway, there's no point debating whether the M11 is a 9700 or 9700Pro. It's neither. We all know it's a 9600XT.

And the reasson Dell wont pull 256mb VRAM on the XPS is because the extra 128mb is most useless.

Cheers.
Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 will make use of the extra 128 MB of video RAM. Maybe even UT2004...

Edit: the XT extension is reserved for chips with the "overdrive" feature. Most M11 based notebooks won't have that feature.

Sigh........ You guys aren't looking hard enough.......
Go to:
http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs
and then click on the "Learn more about Dell's unique graphics upgrade program exclusive to the Inspiron XPS!"

In there, it calls it a InspironTM XPS with the ATITM RadeonTM 9700 Pro.

Oh you of little faith

now, I dont believe it is a "Pro." That just what Dell is calling it...
