That must be some S&H charge...
I ordered the 8790 today, though I first had to go through my bank's fraud department for them to "OK" the funds. At least they're looking out for things like that. (I tried to purchase the laptop online and about ten minutes later, the bank's fraud department called me because it's an abnormal charge.)
Anyway, my suggestion to you or anyone getting a new laptop: First, concentrate on buying upgrades that would drastically increase in price if you were to purchase them after the laptop. I thought about it, and I agree with you about not overextending your budget. PC Torque told me for an additional $200 fee, I could send the laptop in later and have it painted. That's fine. But my first post-purchase acquisition will be the three year warranty; always buy laptops like this with the longest warranty they offer--a lesson I'm glad I learned due to my 8500's troubles.
Speaking of learning lessons, I'm considering starting a new thread. As time goes on, those that have an 8790 could post problems or tips for those in the market for one. I don't know--something.
And in the mean time, I wonder if there's a "Sager code" that might resemble the "Geek Code." I'd love to add *that* to my Codic Engine .Net project...
