I cant order

Sales tax for my config is close to $200.00

And I have no intention of ordering from anyplace else...I think I will just get a Dell.

Damn PC Torque for moving to Fl

well...*sigh* what a waste...I should have thought about this before...
Yeap, If you ship it out of FL I don't think there is sales tax. Ship it to a trustworthy friend or something.

Suxxers to be in FL

I've decided that I will order from PC Torque if I buy a Sager...nobody else gets my $$$

Lets see how this works out...

That was my thought. Seems like an easy way around a *little* thing like that

Come on, gs- you've fidgeted around like a little girl needin' to go potty just like the rest of us for the past couple months and now you're ready to throw in the towel just because someone threw a spike strip down in front o' the finish line? Pfffftp! Minor technicality there, chief

Gah!

Im feeding my hamster a smoked lumberjack...hopefully he gets big enough to break out of his cage and bite me to death

Working on it...working on it...

Its not that I dont have $150 - $200 for the taxes - WHY SHOULD I PAY ?!? Just because I live in FL? Thats RIDICULOUS!! Besides...That kind of money is better spent on the config itself!! I can get the Tv Tuner + 12 Cell batter EXTRA for that money

to Jeb Bush and to FL Sales tax and to Alienware (that just HAD to go in somewhere )

Isn't Florida the state without income tax? I'll trade ya! heh heh.

Seriosuly though, there's gotta be a trustworthy forum member here that resides in Georgia that could lend ya a hand...

Any volunteers?

I've got people in GA...Im trying to work something else out here...lessee...

Cant we order it shipped to Geographic coordinates? Then I will have it shipped to some point in the sea and swim out for it...

Nah..seriously - here is my idea :-
=======================

1] Order it shipped to some friends house in PA
2] PC Torque gets the laptop
3] PC Torque takes out the laptop and ships just the box
4] I go pick up the laptop
5] Friend can keep the box or send it to me for RMA's etc.

Howz that for a plan?

That must be some S&H charge...

I ordered the 8790 today, though I first had to go through my bank's fraud department for them to "OK" the funds. At least they're looking out for things like that. (I tried to purchase the laptop online and about ten minutes later, the bank's fraud department called me because it's an abnormal charge.)

Anyway, my suggestion to you or anyone getting a new laptop: First, concentrate on buying upgrades that would drastically increase in price if you were to purchase them after the laptop. I thought about it, and I agree with you about not overextending your budget. PC Torque told me for an additional $200 fee, I could send the laptop in later and have it painted. That's fine. But my first post-purchase acquisition will be the three year warranty; always buy laptops like this with the longest warranty they offer--a lesson I'm glad I learned due to my 8500's troubles.

Speaking of learning lessons, I'm considering starting a new thread. As time goes on, those that have an 8790 could post problems or tips for those in the market for one. I don't know--something.

And in the mean time, I wonder if there's a "Sager code" that might resemble the "Geek Code." I'd love to add *that* to my Codic Engine .Net project...

I too live in FL.
I thought you can email PCT and they can work something out. (Like ship it out of state and then back in...)
They are doing their best to help me out. I will post an update on this after a solution is found. As of now the "Friend outside FL" is the best option...I need to find a friend who is coming in to FL sometime soon...but its gonna be hard to coordinate

Lessee...
And here I thought this was a pain coordinating from Japan...
Its a pain, I am a pain...Everyone has problems FriedToast...

And I had you for breakfast this morning

What part of IL? I'm trying to *get out* of IL heh heh. I'm in Chicago.

you know what sucks?

the dell inspiron - it sucks. they offer the mobile9700 with a 15.4" screen.

if that can be offered, why can't sager offer the same board with a 16"UXGA screen. i.e. update the 8890?! ... grrr.

oh and obligatory HR quote:

FL?
far-off land?
foreign leadership camp?
fish lake?

oh yeah! fish lake!

I believe the overall problem here is the 16" TFT panel, which have got rare and there are probably no more OEM sources which produce theses panels. If I recall it correctly from memory these were 16" Hitachi panels...(?)

Recently somebody told me that an asian person which is in the TFT panel business has told, that there aren't actually any 16" (15.8") panels produced or available on the market and that it is questionable if there will be in the future...

...all in all the so called 16" panels aren't much wide spread, since it's still an somehow unusual not widely used TFT panel size. - Maybe that's the reason why they got rare...
