You will see this soon, or sooner as you might think...

...of course I can't tell you how Sager will name that child, but Clevo already has a little new letter behind it's usual product name, which indicates the slightly new name for this child... (Ok, it's better I keep the rest secretly for myself...).

So your saying that if I wait ANOTHER (got that) month or two, then I can get what I want a non-wxga pos, and be happy, well I just waited for the 8790, and as far as im concerned its worthless to a gamer and I want something that will run D3 and HL2 well, (btw doom3 requires a MIN, of 128 mb graphics card so that sorta makes the m9600 worthless too)

*cries*
Uhh...The m9600 is going to run Doom 3 nicely...

um, not according to John Carmak, go to www.planetdoom.com and it says that 2.5 Ghz processor and 128 mb Graphics cards will be the min requirement

Those were the recommended specs, not the minimum. The minimum specs are a Geforce 1 and 1000 mhz processor.

IO think doom 3 will be fine for this laptop, or else I don't think many normal gamers are gonna want to go out and buy TOP OF THE LINE systems just to play this game. ID probably knew this so the graphics are gonna be pretty damn decent even if your machine ain't TOP OF THE LINE.

WELL wishful thinking at least

I think the 8790 is the best gamer's notebook on the market TODAY, if you choose it, it's fine, great proccesor, memory, and video card while it's only drawback (for some) it's the WXGA LCD screen.

Why do you want an UXGA screen SO badly, I mean, I play in 800x600 and most games look really fine. I'm just asking for some respect towards the WXGA or explanations about the UXGA.

Some people are put off by the WXGA screen for gaming reasons (stretching, incompatability etc, some games support it, others dont, if they dont you have to run out of native and that's not what you buy a nice LCD for) other people including myself cant work with anything less than UXGA. I defy anyone to work on visual studio on a large GUI project with anything less than 1600x1200. (see here to see what I'm talking about). I find it difficult to work without 2 UXGA monitors, but when I'm forced to use one there's just too much information for anything less than UXGA.

Nice example Robert (and the reason I too find sub 1600x1200 unacceptable). And an excellent call on going w/ Firebird over IE -- though it's now called Firefox and has fixed some more bugs and added more features. One suggestion: Replace those nasty CMD windows with Cygwin bash windows. You'll get a heck of a lot more functionality...

Can any current 8790 owners tell me how annoying having the speaker plug into the front of the laptop is? From what I can tell, that is where the speakers have to plug in, am I right? or is there another jack somewhere?

It seems like it would be extremely annoying, and that alone might turn me off. Thanks.

Two more annoying questions, sorry. How does the WXGA hold up on non-gamming things (video editing, etc)? And, how is the quality on the built-in video camera? Thanks again.

OMFG, someone is smart, NO ONE HAS A 8790 YET.

I find the jacks in the front on my 4780 (which has a similar disign with the up front jacks like on the 8790) quite handy at home or at lans becouse their in front and no reaching in the back to plug in some stupid jacks.

So having the speakers and firewire plug in doesn't get in the way of typing, gaming or isn't annoying?
