Will the Prescotts be any cheaper than P4s?
When have you ever known newer, faster technology to be cheaper?

Athlon64? Last I checked, it was released cheaper than the P4EE, and it's still faster....

Just look at the pictures that are posted, bigboy9247. It can hold two hardrives and a optical drive at the same time.
Well unless I'm reading your question wrong that first question is answered in the pictures (yes) and it's listed in the specs as well

"2 Detachable 2.5” 9.5mm Hard Disk Drive"
"Detachable 24X CD-ROM
Interchangeable with 8X DVD-ROM, 24X CD-R/10X CD-RW, DVD/CD-RW, DVD-R/RW Combo drive"

The second question is also answered in the specs as well:
"Built-in TV-Tuner with Multi-Function Remote"

according to eurocom, if you want the tvtuner, you have to forgo having a battery? that cant be right?

Well, I think a 3.2ghz Prescott will run only about $270. And looking at pricewatch.com, a regular 3.2ghz P4 runs around $370 and a 3.2ghz P4-EE runs for $999.

I'll just wait for the Prescotts if they are going to be cheaper!

Will Sager ever try an Athlon64 design?

Hey there, first time poster.

I've never owned a Sager, but I've admired their business decision in catering to power-users. My question is will Sager ever try out a mobile Athlon64 book or are they too locked into Intel?

Sorry, that seemed kind of off-topic, I posted here instinctively after reading down this thread about the 8790 and it got me thinking.

I doubt it

*gasp* *drool* *twitch*

My 5680 is seeming mighty timid now. Ok, now to see when the next 5xxx model is coming along and if we will be able to upgrade to it!
The eurocom site only show 6 in 1 reader and the specs show 7 in 1 reader. Whats up with that.?
By the way guys..I would buy from PCT and not from powernotebooks as those guys deleted all my posts regarding NP8790 because they do not want consumers to know that this is coming out soon. They want to sell the current models. What assxxxes?
Maybe it's because the "futureware" is "vaporware" at the present time. They are first "out of the gate" to publish and then they often have problems delivering what they anticipated. I'd wait for the configuration toolbar to appear at PCT to see what is really available and then go back and see what they are offering at that time.

7 in 1 Card Reader miniUSB 1.1 or 2.0

Is the internal 7 in 1 Card Reader miniUSB 1.1 or 2.0 for the 8790. On the 8887 the internal miniUSB is 1.1 for the 6-1 Reader/MP3 Player but not sure about the 8890. The removable 6-1 Reader can be used as a USB 2.0 device with the provided cord. Because the 7-1 Reader is built into the side I hope it is miniUSB 2.0. I don't think it's a miniPCI device ?

something i just noticed...when u configure the 8790 over at eurocom....
i did a 2.6HT one...added a 60gb drive...took off the bluetooth..
it says 3000..but that's canadian dollars....2000 american..not bad...
Hmmmm...... Are you sure? With a 2.6HT and a 40GB HDD the configuration costs $2,035 USD. This is with 512MB Ram, No Operating System, No Bluetooth, and No Tuner. If you upgrade the unit to 60GB HDD @ 5,400 RPM the cost increases to $2,160 USD. If you upgrade the 60GB HDD @7,200 RPM the cost increases to $2267.14 USD.

Were you looking at the D870P? That is the model that would be comparable to the 8790!

Eurocom's prices are expensive as crap. I would never buy from them.
ya, eurocom is a dead loss.

ie: their processor upgrade prices are criminal...you can buy boxed processors from ncix.com for the upgrade cost just to go to a 3.0. nasty stuff.

well it does look nice

Well, yah it looks nice, specs and aesthetics, but i"m on a 5660 and I'm still happy after a year.

So don't be killin' yourself coz you ordered a 5680! I still got two cd drives and 4 usb ports. Yah oh well, no tv tuner and web cam, but i got a Panasonic SV-AV-30 to record tv onto an SD card. TV viewing well spent!

I still game with old catalyst drivers and 64 meg vid and still do okay at LAN tournaments.

But it's good to see, I'll definitely buy another sager in a year or more.
