I don't mind Zone Alarm, I like it, no problems.

Hey, I went to try and Hibernate for the first time, some of you recommended it. But I couldn't find the option to hibernate! So how the heck do you go into hiberation? It's not on the menu next to Standby, Turn Off, and Restart, so where is it? I'm not stupid but I can't find it.

Aww damnit! Now it won't stay in Standby again! It thought that I had to shutdown Zone Alarm and unplug USB devices, guess that wasn't it. It did work the other day thought, I don't know what it is. Damn.

And I can't find the option where you put the notebook into Hibernation. Yes, I've already enabled it in the "Power Options Properties". But I can't find a button like the Standby and Turn off / restart ones.

If you have Dell quickset, open settings and there you should find a checkbox that says something like "enable hibernate support". enable it and now the HIBERNATE option will be in your shutdown dropdown list.

after u click on "turn off computer" ...hold a shift button down...standby will dissappear and HIBERNATE will appear.

i cant believe this topic has gone on this long (:

Have you tried going on Standby mode with another windows xp account?
Turn on the guest account and close all programs and try going on Standby mode. If it works than you know it is not a BIOS or hardware related problem but a software problem.

Hmm, never thought of trying that. I might try it.

I used the hibernation feature for the first time yesterday, and I like it! What do ya know? Haha. I like how windows comes back up really fast when I turn it back on from hibernation and it seems to run quickly if I throw all sorts of tasks at it, it keeps up as if it's been running. And also I noticed that I had less processes running when it came back on from hibernation, I don't know, but I like less processes. Means less crap is running and my laptop will run faster.
