P35 Notebook Memory Question?

Thread Starter
i have a Toshiba P35-S611. It currently has 512mb installed which i believe is a single chip not 2x 256mb. My graphics card can take up to 128mb off the 512 so my question is can i buy like a 128, 256 or 512mb for the graphics card to take off that and have the rest to work with. ALSO can someone please post links of the correct memory module to put in the laptop.
im really not looking to spend more than 100-150 on this so please try to keep them relatively low priced. but if anyone could post links of compatible memory modules i would really appreciate that.

Go to Crucial.com and feed in your computer model etc and it will tell you the max memory for your machine and also what kind of memory you need

Return this machine immediately

I hope to God you recently purchased this notebook and can return it for a full refund. It is perhaps one of the worst machines ever made. The hardware components are all very impressive. It runs very well at first. But there are at least two fatal design flaws that make this a terrible purchase. It is prone to overheating, and when it does it will simply turn off without warning. You can possibly work around this if you are careful, but it's not worth the trouble. The worst problem is that the AC adapter will be useless. The internal power supply will stop making contact when the AC adapter is plugged in. It will run only off of battery power. The battery will only last 2 hours. If you care to hold the AC adapter perfectly in place with one hand and try to work with the other you might be able to do so, for a while. When running on outlet power and contact with the plug is lost it will switch to battery power. You will not be able to switch back to outlet power by moving or adjusting the plug. The only way to switch back to outlet power will be to shut down, find the exact position the plug will make contact with the internal power supply, hold it there indefinitely, and reboot. This is also how you will have to charge your battery. This machine is not worth keeping, and certainly not worth buying. It is like having a Ferrari with all the horsepower but an ignition that will not reliably work. Ever.

And when you do run into problems apparently this is the type of support you can expect to receive:
