IBM R50p graphic card

R50p has a ati FireGL T2 card - how does this workstation card perform in games? Will it run the next generation DX9 games [HL2] as well as the the ati 9600 or am I best to wait until IBM offers the 9600? Any general impressions of the R50?

Its the same card except the FGT2 has drivers for OpenGl apps and other workstation programs. Eliminate those workstation capabilities and in a sense you have the 9600 Mobility card in your hand.

My only general impression of the R50 is the price. It has very nice specs, and IBM has a good reputation, but $6000(cdn) is way too steep for a lowly student such as myself.

$6000??

pewh, that would get you a lifetime of $1000 laptops if you upgrade every four years.

4 x 6 = 24 years

1 x 6000 = 6000 tears
