Better deal?

I just spotted this deal courtesy of Pricegrabber.com

2 gigs (1gb x 2) of Corsair memory for $130, shipped. It's a couple bucks more than the Transcend, buuuut you KNOW Corsair won't let you down.

Hey total, how is the system performance now that you have an extra gig? I ordered mine with only 512mb which isnt enough, but I am going to upgrade after the holidays and I have some extra cash.

I upgraded primarily because the game FEAR was stuttering alot when I was running 1 GB, the HD lights flashes real frequent. After going to 2 GB it's much better. The stuttering is alot less, and when it happens, it's a lot shorter, just a quick blurp. Definitely a big difference is game play. I also can edit huge jpeg files now. Before I get a "Not enough memory" error. Those are about it for now that I notice benefit from 2 GB. But I'm sure down the road games, and some apps will need the 2 gigger. I can't imagine the price going any lower, I would stock up now. I can remember not too long ago paying $200 for 512 MB of notebook RAM.

I searched ebay and could not find CtechSolutions. Is that spelled right or am I nuts?

I bought a gig about 2 months ago. It is from a different manufacturer. Is there a drawback if I buy one gig of these and mix the two?
thanks!

Heh heh. Let me know when you find out, so I can do the same with my 2 512MB stix.

By the way guys, you probably already know this, but the extra RAM will NOT help framerates. It will simply alliviate the pauses and stutters due to HD swapping. It won't go away completely, but much more bearable.

With the 7800GTX i'm not worried about framerates!

Bastard!

Hey that 3D Mark05 score seems low for the 7800, why don't you OC that bad boy...
I know its at the low end, but understand I only have 1GB 1.6Ghz.

Ram doesnt make any difference in 3dmark, and cpu makes a very small difference.
You are correct.
It makes about a 200 point difference;
6400 compared to 6600 for most M170 benches that i have seen for stock clock 7800GTX's.
We will see what I get with 2 gigs.

Ram wont change it, like u said, the m170's have a slightly faster processor so they score a bit more. The only way ram would increase a 3dmark score is if u were going from a slower ram to a faster ram.

If I ordered my laptop from Dell with 1G of memory are both slots taken with 2 512mb ram sticks? Can I order one of these 1G and it will work or do I have to order 2 of them?
yeah both slots or taken that is why I removed my 1gb from them it's a rip off.
