At the time *I* felt handcuffed to the computer by way of a $450 restocking fee... I wish I'd made a stink about the paint, but I don't think they'd have simply cut me a check without seeing the damage themelves, so it was a question of a) sending the system back for a replacement (hardly worth waiting) or b) dealing with it.
This is more in response to the "fear of Alienware" thread, which has gotten too long to respond to LOL:
I had serious buyer's remorse for nearly a month. Now that I've started to get configuration issues worked out, I'm glad I kept the system. But I do get a tiny sinking feeling when I see the scratches, after spending the $$$ for such a nice system.
I think the reason some people post negative comments and return systems is because they expect a smooth out-of-the-box experience. But that's just not the way it goes with a PC, laptop or otherwise. You want one-size-fits-all-power-up-and-go, buy an Apple. (Good luck finding software.)
