International orders (Specifically Canada and Mexico)

Hey guys (gals too?),

My system recently went into Phase 3, and the amount billed to my credit card was about $200CDN more than the price on the website when I placed my order.

This is (obviously) because the amount billed to my CC was in US dollars and the amount advertised on the site when I purchased was in Canadian (as I chose Canada from the drop down country selector).

There is no mention that Canadian orders will be billed in US currency anywhere throughout the purchase process, the only place I was able to find it listed was in the news area, but I neither read the news section nor was I told to read it through the ordering process.

The terms of service states that all prices are listed in US dollars, and does not yet include the exclusion for Canadian dollars nor billing policies on foreign currency.

There's a really easy way around this for Alienware, I've implemented it on several sites: Just keep a bank account in each currency for each country you service. Billing to that account will occur in the native country of whereever the purchaser resides, or the account that the money is coming from, and also avoids hassles like this.

If this issue isn't resolved, I'm cancelling my order. The whole billing process has been such a pain in the butt with all of the extra information I had to provide because I am buying from Canada, plus this -- if I had known about this before I placed my order, I wouldn't have bought from them.

We'll see.

Pollensoft, sorry that you're having problems, I ordered from Canada too, way up here in the NWT. I have to say though that I didn't have any problems getting my CC charged properly. The price was a little over what I thought but you also have to allow for exchange rates, shipping, GST etc.. On the whole I haven't had any real problems with the process so far. I hope it works out for you though. I'd hate to think I was the only happy Canuck.

Sorry, I forget where but it does in fact state that you will be charged in US dollars. It's a US company, I had thought it was understood that you will pay US dollars.

found it in the terms and agreement as you said. It's item 2. That statement tells you right there that you will be paying in US dollars. I'm not sure where your problem is. You feel that they have to tell you after stating that all prices are in US dollars that you will not be paying Canadian dollars? Perhaps a little more explanation is in order here?
